50% discount is not worth it

Lately there've been some sales offers, weekend deals and now the winter sale. I am going to buy this game and enjoy it for a few hours once again, but the deal doesn't cut it for me. I have reserved some steam money for NMS if it drops to 30%. And who knows, maybe its going to be f2p soon (don't really count on that assumption, but expect it next year). Thanks for wasting your time on this post.

Same with me and Fallout 76. Once it goes to 4.95 or better yet free, I will try it. I thought about Artifact for a moment, but I would not play that if it was free.

F2P lol. This isn’t an MMO, and with the continual FREE large scale updates it is well worth th 50% discount, if not the full price.

While this board does seem to get a lot of traffic from people posting about how they WON'T buy the game, at the same time it's pretty disheartening to see so many gamers then pile on with personal insults immediately.

Shoe-on-other-foot tip: most people rant/scream/rage/beg in the hopes to get everything for next to nothing because their ego is wired to self absorbed entitlement, even if they don't like what they're ranting/screaming/begging for about. If they can't have/enjoy it, why should anyone else...

Whilst for most of us the game is a bargain even at full price, no micro-transactions, no monthly subs and no "pay again for this years upgrade" stuff - in reality many people are poor and have trouble justifying even the small cost of a game like this.

Personally this game is pocket money compared to my real life hobbies. Just keeping my motorcycle on the road costs thousands a year and real time aviation is hundreds of dollars an hour but I am aware not everyone is so fortunate.

That said. I think the insults are because most people think its a troll post. The devs have announced as a policy they never read this forum so any posts here are generally troll posts trying to stir up the local wildlife and people get annoyed by it.

i've just recently finally started playing it. i payed 30 bucks, and ive got more than double what i "value price to gametime" back already.
and as it looks, thatll keep getting more and more value quickly. the game would have been worth full price to me at this point already.

i can certainly recommend it when its on a 50% sale, if you're the type of player for this, youll get your money worth of gaming.

how i value games to me for many years now - 1 buck is worth 1 hour of gametime to me. i'll sure dump a couple hundred hours into this, as i really enjoy the game so far, 82 hours in. go figure.

maybe there will be special QS Bot mission on 31 dec? like bang some fireworks into the (no man's) sky every full hour? are fireworks visible from orbit if someone fires them up on the surface?

F2P? How would they monetize it? 30$ is fine for this game with the amount of content. If you don't like the game, play something else.

I don't think it will go FTP at all...it's not an option as their bussiness model (if you know the game...) they only have revenew from selling the game...no cash shop ar anything near close.

Even though this game is not for everyone, its more of a niche game i belive it is worth its full price. I've already enjoyed more than 365h in game... make numbers

Being not a troll IRL, I must admit this smells like trolling, maybe just a little. F2P is coming is something I do expect. I really believe in what I understand about management in dev in general - they allow major updates to please their devs and fanbase mostly after they don't care about the revenue from that particular game no more. If the cow brings serious money, it's really not tempting to change it, potentially breaking something wiht update.

Since updates are quite coming every now and then - they don't care much about money no more but care about positive PR. Maybe it's in the view of another game coming. So free2play will boost the PR even further. Maybe it will be around celebrating 3rd year August 2019. I bet this prediction won't hold but I like to believe in it anyway.

I had played this game about 200hrs and got it (didn't purchase) from somewhere else after NEXT - the first time I heard about NMS. I liked it and going to spend on it my hard-saved money from pubg skin trading to say devs a big 'thank you'. I'm broke, of course, as many in my country, and yet I was able to buy some nice games this year during sales. 50% for the NMS is still a little too much in my personal estimate (hopefully it won't offend big wheelers out there). Again, consider it venting, but I'll be first to buy it when the price is right.
