switch from terrain manipulator to mining lazer

hey,

just got the game, currently doing the tutorial quests. just got to the part where you make the terrain manipulator mod to mine copper. made the mod, mined the copper, terrain manipulator broke and now i need to get ferrite.

tried to use the mining lazer to get ferrite from rock, cant because the multi-tool is still in terrain manipulator mode. google it, everything i read says use the 'X' menu. go into the x menu, then to the utilities section, there is no option to switch back to the mining lazer.

beat a rock to give me ferrite to repair the terrain manipulator. repair it, check to see if repaired terrain manipulator can be used on surface rock formations. it cant. still have no idea how to bring back the mining lazer.

i know this is probably an extream example of noob question but how do i get my mining lazer back? my patience with this game is dropping faster then my hazzard protection. i wanna give it a chance but as it is right now, im about one more minor annoyance away from getting a refund while i still can. this is the sort of information that should be included in the tutorial
