Extreme Survival not progressing
I'm trying to complete a Polo mission - to reach 15 sols in an extreme environment. But whatever worlds I try, the counter WILL NOT MOVE from 13.1. I've read several threads that suggest going to worlds with hostile sentinels, to wait for at least 15 minutes (which is the same as 1 SOL). The last planet I visited had a day-temperature of 115 degrees celcius and the sentinels were "Frenzied". I waited for 35 minutes, and then checked the Milestones-progress. Still at 13.1 sols. Very frustrating.

Why is the counter not moving?

And Yes - the Temperature/environment-thingy AND the sentinel-status in the lower left corner were both RED.

i've red somewhere in the game (guide section maybe?) that extreame counter resets if you leave the planet. you have to find a new one now...

have you left that planet and then flew back?

I have not left the planet, and I have not died.

I've stayed out in the open all the 35 minutes. For the last planet - I have tried at least 10 different planets with extreme weather/aggro sentinels, and for this last one with both.

You must've died a some point because 30 minutes (2 sols) would've been enough to get to 15 sols. You'll probably need about 4 hours to get the milestone now.

Extreme S. is a case where you have to let your computer run overnight:

- Refill your Life Support
- Go in a cave or building (if it's a cave there must be no critters!)
- let the computer run overnight, and next day you will have completed Extreme S.

Again: I did not die. And I have tried several extreme planets. I have over 200 hours in the game, so I know what I am doing. This is my third restart. I survived 35 minutes by refilling my lifesupport. In my previous game i maxed the survival milestone, but in this game it seems like it's just bugged.

Its been like that from the very beginning. IIRC, after a certain point you HAVE to stay on a planet until it completes. Just leave your dude parked somewhere safe-ish and go watch a movie or something.

ok i know how to explain it to you :)

tha nms guide says that extreme survival counter resets when you leave the planet on which it was "actively ticking" ie. actually registering your time of presence there.

when you leave that planet the counter resets to 0. but it does not reset your maximum counted time so far. and that maximum value aquired so far is displayed in trade terminals and milestones tab. it's kinda like a highwater mark.

to move it further again you must stay on extreme planet exactly same amount of time your current achievement in extreme survival is. when the new counter reach that amount then your achivement will start to rise again.

in other words that achivement is for uninterrupdet stay on one specific extreme planet of your choice. when you leave you have to start again and stay even longer. the times on different planets do not sum.

Nswr24: I'm having trouble understanding your explanation. When you say:

"to move it further again you must stay on extreme planet exactly same amount of time your current achievement in extreme survival is"

In my case, I am at 13.1 sols and I need to get to 15 sols. Do you mean that I have to stay at least 13.1 sols to get the ticker started again?

Because that would mean 49 hours, if 1 sol is 15 minutes (as far as I can calculate).

15 minutes is .25 hours. 15 sols = 15 * .25 hours, or 3.75 hours.

Park yourself in a building, and go away for 4 hours.

You guys should read the previous posts in a thread, it can save you time...

If you do differently you will reach at most 1 step before maximum Milestone, but not the maximum.

When I had this problem, I built a small temp base close to a trade platform and left my guy inside and went to bed. I was stuck at 28.1. When I woke up, 30!

This is what I was thinking. I was concerned I would have had to find the planet I was originally gaining the extreme time on to continue it. But oh well, I will just hang out on an extreme planet. Preferably with things to do haha.
