Hmmm....compatiblilty. It's all designed to work together......if you know what you are doing. Vehicles.....you can't take tractor parts and put them on an airplane....or can you.
A PC is a potato when it no longer performs to the users standards.... Or when one is reluctant to give their specs and complain about poor performance... Obvious potato user. We've all used potatos at one time or another. We may even have a few we still use.
A potato for gaming, but functions adequately for other purposes. If you own a potato...... good to see the old tech still hangin'. If it works for how you use it....great. If you are a gamer anything below 30fps on med settings would be considered potato country.
But in reality the potato term doesn't fit. Back in the 90's the geeks who played most of the PC games refered to old PCs as abaci. That term fit. Abaci/Abacus being a term the console crowd and the average gamer can't grasp too well, so it changed to something suited for that mentality. The term potato was born. Which should be a term to describe an obsolete battery, and not a PC. But it sounds good anyhoot.
I still see i7s from the 2000 and 3000 series do very well in benchmarks so I think your threshold is too high. The demand for higher performance CPUs for gaming became stagnant quite a few years ago. My i7-3930k hasn't had any issues with games; I think I'm GPU limited in No Man's Sky so it's hard to tell what kind of performance I could get with it.
There are many issues to even with high end PC's, with that said the only issue i have is the bugs.
She was getting 8. Because it's a buggy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mess.
