How do i get a medium refiner?

I got the portable and the large but not medium, I was expecting to get them in order like portable->medium->large

Same here, thought and heard there was supposed to be a medium one too...Never saw it.
Just the portable(small) and a large.

Build a circular room, it will trigger a quest to build a construction station, building the station it will trigger a quest to hire a NPC to work in the station, this questline will lead to the large refiner, at least this was what happened to me, but no medium refiner so far.

For new saves on NEXT, just follow the base-building quests and you'll get to it. If you're on a legacy, pre-NEXT save, the better refiners cannot be acquired yet. We'll have to sit tight until they patch it in like with the blueprint analyzer.

What the big and medium refiner do more than the small ? Just quantity maybe .

Just an FYI, if you already have the large one, it has three slots, you do not need the medium one, which has two slots, also. Unless you are trying to 100% the game.

You need it for combining materials and to duplicate materials.
