Are there any tricks to finding caves?
As above, or is it blind luck roaming around a planet so if unlucky I may never find my marrows and cobalt?

I've yet to visit a planet that did not have caves reasonable often...

Thay seems to be less caves and thay are more bland, shorter and less deep.

I haven't found any decent caves. Just mini ones with very little in them. But I've read it's complete RNG, since the planets are procedurally generated (did I spell that right?)
scan for yellow icons (or the red danger icons) - you can usually tell when they're below ground

So are there big cave complexs anymore. The ones U would get lost in. Deep long cave systems with lots of glowing life and instering stuff in them. I have not see them at all and thay used to be common.

They are random. A lot look like small holes so you can't see unless you are walking. You really are not missing much. Most caves are just dark tunnels with a few rocks and toxic plants. I miss the old caves that were always full of bulbs lighting them up.
There's a cave under my base (that I discovered some time later) that's big enough for me to fly my ship into AND turn around.

Can't find 'em? I keep bloody driving into them by accident in my Roamer. As far I have seen all worlds have at least some caves, but they do seem to have reduced them from the previous version where I found planets that were practically sponges, though with Next I have still got myself lost in some pretty extensive warrens and had to dig myself out.

If the planet you are on is a bit lacking in caves move on and see what the next has to offer. My base is on a low cave planet and ones there are don't have much in them so I too was struggling for marrow bulbs and cobalt looking locally. But a jump away I found another with practically wall to wall cobalt columns, half a dozen other minerals, more marrow bulbs than you can shake a stick at, toxic fungi and loads of those hypercube thingys. Just lacking the inevitable predatory cave crabs from the previous version (those b-ds were annoying).

My advice look for a world with undergound artifacts, since they will by definition have pretty good caves, and if you can't find an entrance get your terrain manipulator out and make one - sit right above the yellow icon and blast a hole down.

Thanks found plants below surface and dug down into the cave, short swim and I found the exit so no major cave horror story that older players speak of.

Hazardous plants are USUALLY a sign of a cave. Not a guarantee but they are a good direction to follow rather just running in random directions. Subteranian relics are always in caves if you ever see one.

I look for yellow icons I know are buried things (Humming Eggs, and Underground Artifacts), and when I get close to one of them I search around for a cave mouth. If I don't find one before I get impatient, I stand on top of the yellow marker and dig straight down with the mining tool :P

The red <!>, or a yellow <III>, under your feet is a hint. Just be aware that the <III> icon will disappear when you get to within about 30 units. You can also dig down and press up against the curve of the wall in first person. It should let you see past the skin to see where caves are.

i often find cave entrance by looking around for glowing marrow bulbs dotting spike minerals concentrations.

once, doing excrft technician mission, i fell into a cave tunnel while driving excrft at full speed and just continued ahead until it ended on the surface... it was too narrow to turn around and looked like it was inside one of those "lava tubes" rock formations streaching planet surface. try terrain manipulator on one of them maybe? choose a thick one...
