Star Seeds (Major Spoilers Inside)
If you don't want the Atlas Path spoiled for you don't read below:

So today I went through a huge chunk of the Atlas Path and reached what felt like was the end. I placed the Heart of the Sun into the terminal and received the blueprint to create star seeds. I was given the option to Birth A Star, but that did not seem to generate anything but text for me.

I have crafted the Star Seed and I see that it's an exosuit tech upgrade. I added it to my suit, and it appears I can now see black holes on the galaxy map.

My question is why the Atlas Path questline in my log is now asking me to explore the universe again. A moment ago it asked me to head to a black hole, which I'd never done before even though I had the option previously. Once I passed through a black hole I was taken to a completely new part of the galaxy and now I'm seeing that the Atlas Path just says to explore again.

Anybody able to give some info to help? Thanks in advance.

From the base game, the original plot point was to reach the center of the galaxy. I haven't been anywhere near the Altas Path since NeXT came out however from the earlier updates, once you complete the Atlas quests (which from memory, you have done so), you are now meant to get to the center of the galaxy.

journey now starts

You dont need the seed to see blackholes.

You do need rememberance installed to interact with some rooms on space stations, i dont remember if this is part of the story though, or if this is something new they added.

I remember that in the previous versions of NMS, completing Atlas quest would eventually throw us to the different galaxy. I hope it has been changed in NEXT and now, after giving a birth to a new star, we are just moved to the different part of the Euclid Galaxy and that's all... I hope.

Before NeXT, it always worked this way (note that it *may* still be the same after NeXT - I don't know myself yet - I'm sure others can chime in though and confirm if it is still the same questline). Completing the Atlas quest never threw you to a new galaxy (unless you got to the center of Euclid or any following galaxy). It sent you to a black hole that got you "slightly" closer to the center of Euclid.

Thanks for the answer, mate! So it seems it is the time to complete this quest.

Yeah the atlas quest was really just a tutorial introduction to space travel.

Well, it did seem to ask me to use a black hole right after I birthed the star (which didn't really seem to do anything).

Nothing is encouraging me to head to the center of the galaxy though. It just says I should explore.

Most of the quests seem to be meant more as a tutorial than anything. Least thats what I noticed, The farmers quests especally lets you learn if you didn't know already where to look for certan materials. While the others will get you to interact with poi's that you might not have seen yet.

So you can't get rid of this quest from the Quest Log? I just finished Atlas Path and it says I should explore, That's it?

annoyingly yes, both main quests remain in your quest log after finishing them, and atlas at least remains in your waypoints on galaxy map.

So, do we still have any idea what the star seed does?

Also, what was the significance of birthing a star? Did anything other than words happen there?

Star seed's are crafted out of each other to make the ingredient for the Remembrance upgrade.

Star seed lets you see black holes in the map.
Birthing a new star is just to show you that, after getting the atlas seeds, you have some control of the simulation and can create a new system yourself. It has no actual impact I believe.
Asmosis Aug 6, 2018 @ 10:46pm
You dont need the star seed for that, you just need to complete the quest. Perhaps my lack of it is why i can't see atlas stations anymore though. I might have to rebuild it.
