Getting in a new galaxy - no access to ''past'' base (story) ?
Dunno how to call my question but i am at the end of the storyline and i didnt play for a very long time no mans sky(last time i played active were before base building) and im curious what happens IF i complete one of the story lines, ''atlas path, or the artemis/apollo missions''. as far i know you get into a new galaxy but im unsure what with my current base will happen. Can i still go back? Or does it just teleport you to another place of the ''universe'' and isnt like a totally new ''universe/galaxie/playground with new planets or whatsoever''? or is it like a totally NEW area for you .
Im really worried to lose my base, i know you keep ship, tech but.. since base is a stationary thing im not so sure about haha.

As far as I know you lose your base, but don't quote me on that. And yes it's a completely new galaxy. There 256 different galaxies. There are different type of galaxies, some have more harsh planets or more exotics or more lush planets.

Also I can remember seeing this question being asked a lot. So you might just use the forum search function or google search.

You are sent to other galaxy, your equipment and ship get broken, and you lose access to your base... since it's in another galaxy. It's basically a reset of your game, except you keep your things, once you repair them of course.

i didnt found this myself sadly on net/youtube and forum after searching but hmmm.... i hate the idea giving up my base but my galaxie is quite.... bad... i play in survival mode and didnt found many decent planets for a massive and cool base only for some outpost stuff haha.

What about Frighter and Fleet?

that's why you prepare before doing that, and dismantle base if you want all materials back.

Pre NEXT it used to be you got 1/2 materials back in the base cache, now in NEXT you have to also build that module. Pre next it was part of the main claimable room.

So if you want to truely get 100% mats back, dismantle
If too big for your current storage, dismantle what you may really need to retrieve (the worst materials to get back)

If you crawl under materials, you can also happily take the loss (if it's still a thing in NEXT ofc) and don't bother.

And nope, there is no coming back to previous galaxy, unless you join a friend that is in the first galaxy

well about the ship and exosuit tech i know already of but the base.... that kidna hurts. its not a big base just a temporary one till i found a cool planet but my galaxie isnt the greatest seemingly haha. is there any reason apart of the story to change galaxie, morph said galaxies are different to eachother but... is there a big difference?

Check out this link to find more information about different galaxies: https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Galaxy

The Eissentam galaxy is known to have many lush planets.

there are differences, but remember it's still very RNG
4 galaxy types
https://nomanssky.gamepedia.com/Galaxy#Galaxy_Types
And in the tranquil galaxies, you have more chances to find (or again it used to be, but also heard from older players it has changed) earth type planets with often enough non agressive sentinels

maybe storms are also dumbed down in those now... who knows

Now reasons to go to an other galaxy ? hell yeah... having next to no chances to come across something someone discovered \o/

The challenge to advance through them ? wanting to reach the last one ?

ive dont know exactly but considering a freighter can be like 450+ mil and is vbasicly able to warp with you around and works as moving base(not stationary) i assume it follows up with the fleet but dont wanna promise anything

Can't answer for sure, because when I did it, I had finished all, and at the time the base quests were limited to only what you have with the specialists.

so I would advise to make sure if a few things before you do anything further....

have you crafted all the Atlas seeds from the Atlas ? If I remember correctly you need to have that last one ready with you.

And yes indeed you keep all, but base.
That's also why many of us had always a farming base on freighter so you always had (if anything went wrong) a functioning farm at hand

i can craft currently up to dark matter and i didnt do the myet cause i dont know what for them are - i assume its like in the past atlas stones though haha. do i need ALL OF THEM or only the highest tier?
BonPadre Aug 4, 2018 @ 10:09am
you always need the one from the recipe before to craft the mext one
Have fun collecting ;-)
But be aware that the mats from Wiki is outdated, as most don't exist anymore
