No way to exit game from the first menu?

I just loaded the game but I got to the main menu that asks something like Play game or join game but nothing to exit the game (which is what I wanted to do). Is there some exotic key combination in the game to do this or I must use ALT+F4 and or windows key to kill it on the task bar?

No way atm. Something they missed. Just load into a game and exit from there.

Agreed. Frustrating on the PS4 because you have to open a side menu and close application, etc...

I try to avoid that as even on an SSD, to load a save takes 2:35 to fully load, that doesn't seem like much but in computer time, that's like ages sitting stareing at what looks like an old star field screensaver.

But thanks for the reply, I guess Alt+F4 is fastest unless they eventually put in an exit button.

I agree this feature is needed. If Alt-F4 works for you, great. I also found you can Alt-Tab out, and then right click and close the application from the task bar.

The game use to take anywhere from 5-20 minutes to load, now whatever they did, it loads in 10-60 seconds. I'm on a standard 7200 HDD

With dual monitors, I Alt - Tab out, move the mouse to the next screen, RMB click the program and click "Close".

Depending on how you have your graphics set (windowed, borderless, etc), you might be able to hit the Windows button to get the task bar and RMB close it that way.

Yeah...One of my Pet Peeves! Especially annoying when you are trying to test stuff.

But once you click on that NMS Icon, you are trapped until you go all the way through to loading in your save and then quitting back to Desktop.

I shudder to think how many hours I have wasted in the last two years by hitting that icon by accident or before remembering I forgot to add a mod test back in before launching! ;o)

I run Borderless. And NO, I am not going to use the WIN key to get back to the desktop and force quit the game. A good way to bork your save file actually.

This game has one of the stupidest front end designs I've ever seen. On any normal game, the first thing you get to is the Main Menu. Here you can change settings (graphics, audio, etc), start a new game, resume a game, multiplayer, or quit.

With this game you can't do anything until you either load a save, or god forbid you want/need to quit when you're playing the game for the first time. Then you have to select a difficulty level, wait for the interminable first-time "loading shaders" to end, wait through the very slow intro sequence, and THEN you can finally quit.
