Chromatic Metal
Hello , am i the ony oen thinking Chromatic Metal is in a bit of to many recipe and in way to much quantity , i mean you litterally need Chromatic Metal for anything you do , like repairing a ship is like few K of them it s pretty annoying

This do not trigger me. Is ok for me.

Well it's metal, do you think you can build a spaceship without metal?
Xilo The Odd Aug 2, 2018 @ 7:51pm
well when you can go to a blue star system.

Indium smelts at a 1:4 ratio into chromamtic. so 1 lump of indium turns into 1k chromatic in most cases.

be warned though, planets with activated indium are much much more difficult to work on.

basically, if your using regular copper, yeah its a grind, but theres ways to make the grind easier.

It's only in the beginning that it matters much because you usually have access to copper first and that takes a while to make into chromatic. But there are lots of other resources that convert to chromatic faster and in a lot larger quantities, like Emeril or Cadmium.

We use metal in the engine, in the casing, in the components, in the shell, in the wheels.

Do you get my drift? It's like saying why is carbon the basis for life forms?

the amish built one out of wood powered by cattle. so they say.

Wait until you figure out that between the portable and large refinery you turn many substances into other substances and ultimately large profits.

Once you get the ability to mass produce chromatic metal via recipes you won't care so much...because you'll be swimming in it.

Wait till you find a crashed ship early on, wow that's a grind haha
Defektiv Aug 2, 2018 @ 7:56pm
Yeah if you want to repair up a broked up ship then its massive mats. Easier just to get it flying and fly to a station to trade it in for something fixed.

PSA for follks who hate farming deposits for Chromatic Metal:

You can actually multiply your supply of chromatic metal using only a Large Refinery. For instance, refining copper > CM is a 2:1 ratio. After you do that to some of your copper (or emeril, cadmium, indium etc.), you can then refine copper + CM to make 4 copper. Do this a bunch and you'll never have to run out of chromatic metal or have to farm a deposit ever again.

i was trapped in a system most of yesterday cause no ship or station would sell me any chromatic metal or copper to make it. was eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeextremely frustation. need it in the process to make warp cell :/ for such a rare thing its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over needed. thankfully many many hours later a ship sold me some copper which in itself is rare since it seems all ships n stations now only sell the exact same certain things and not many things anymore either GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. i miss the old system where you could aquire a HUGE variety of things at stations

This...
ALWAYS keep a stock of copper...somewhere... around
I was nearely out of copper at a time.. I had only.... 12 left... yes 12

I went into the experiment.... from this 12 stock, I did grow until I had enough to repair a ship, create 1000 copper stock, create warp cells.

So alwas keep that around and in mind... that's why a few medium refineries running next to each other, one converting copper into chromatic, one usin copper + chromatic to expand your stock of copper, and then 2 more creating more of this one or that one...

no copper in your system? go nd mine the local emeril, cadmium or indium than... you can make warp cells in EVERY system.. you can not get stuck.

or even easier... make a few millions nd buy your self a Trade Specialist Frigate... this ship gives you 100 Chromantic Metal every hour... you only need to dock at it and collect it.

If you cut your Copper with some Pure Ferrite in the Medium Refiner, you get a 3 Chromatic Metal yield. It's generally better than just refining Copper alone.

Additionally, you can cut your Copper with Ferrite Dust and get 1 Chromatic Metal. Not as good a ratio of materials:yield, but it still helps you conserve your copper.
