Finding an A or S class ship?

Is it possible to find a A or S class ship at a distress signal? I've been hunting ships and repairing them and haven't seen one yet. Also, are the chances better in a blue solar system to find an A or S class or its all based on the economy of the system?

Yes you can. Higher economy systems have better ships in them.

pre next i found an A48+8 hauler before i'd even repaired my starter ship

since then no such luck even finding ships at all. my distress beacons routinely find old sites for starter ships complete with atlas buckets for the red jello blob

Assuming it all still works the same, yes, higher wealth systems will have better freighters and ships.

Yes you can find all kinds of classes even exotics from distress signals. But it's very very very rare. I find it's better to go to a system with a confirmed S class around you want and keep reloading the save over and over till one shows up. Use your visor to look at the stats instead of asking pilots.

do derelict ships get pulled from the same pool as the tradeable ships?

I found an A class hauler before but unless they changed things you'll have to pay a lot of units to get all the slots on it repaired. But you still get the stat bonus at least.

i actually don't mind the next updates version of repairing slots. it's expensive but gives you a purpose for a while. the just prior to next version is expensive and feels like paying off a car loan

Seen about 7 S class ships, they're are random but can be found anywhere, for example I found a S class called father of the void in my starter galaxy.
