Why can I only build wooden structures?

That is all I can build. I have seen many people building square rooms and all that.

Its a matter of buying the blueprints from the blueprint analyzer.

Because you need to progress to the real base building quests. You're only at the tutorial.

My base archives quest was bugged so I have only just fixed that.

The one apolo gives you. Where you hire people work at your base they in turn give you BPs and eventually a metric ass ton of base parts.
