"You have lost connection to onilne discovery services"
That message is perpetually visible in the Discovery tab, beneath Discovered Systems. Is there something I need to do to enable this?

The servers just can't handle how many people are currently playing, they are used to less than 2-5k playing, and the other day it had 90k+ online at once. Only real fix is to restart the game as it doesn't seem to try to reconnect. Not that you have to even be connected to that to get your nanites. It just claims that you found it if anyone ever happens to come across that world. In general I'd not worry about it. Most of the stuff near the galaxy center has probally long been claimed anyway for how long the game has been around.

dont worry about it, you dont need a constant connection, it just needs to grab a connection now and then so it can update your info to the central servers.

its likely the servers have just been overloaded with so many people suddenly playing at once.

Several days in a row cant get connected to discovery services! Tried with firewall turned off.

It never works ever, it never connects.

Or it is actually connected and the message is a bug? This has been so before next, and it is constant for everyone.

Only way to know for sure, is to see if you can find a planet/creature/waypoint that someone you know renamed, and check if that name is there.

I've never seen it connected since NEXT but was assuming that it was because the gog version hasn't got multiplayer added.

Still get nanites from uploading so whether system and whatnot are actually uploaded or not is anyones guess.

I'm having the same problem. You can still upload and earn stuff but strange that it say can't connect.

This^

.
I actually DID see it 'on' once (it turned green and everything) but I can't find the Screenshot I took (I have like 50k Screenshots over all games I play) and so noone believes me. I feel like a crazy person that saw a ghost and now I can't prove it

Edit:
I caught it again! Here is PROOF hah

It does reconnect. I've only lost connection briefly a couple times now, both times it reconnected during the same session. I'm not sure why some people are having such an issue staying connected to it and others aren't though.
Syngather Aug 7, 2018 @ 2:36pm
I am constantly having the issue, and I think it is effecting my base missions as it is not updating to my current base, and of course my old base is gone so it just points me to empty space.
Zophie Winters Aug 7, 2018 @ 2:41pm
It won't stop you from playing or even doing multiplayer if it's disconnected, it only affects ability to see custom discovery names other people set. I did notice though that it tends to reconnect just after I upload a discovery, it doesn't stay connected long (and sometimes doesn't do it right away), but at least it looks like it's somewhat functional, probably just overloaded right now with all the players.

Seems like I was wrong about it being tied into the gog version and lack of multiplayer since I did see it flicker green for a fraction of a second.

I played over 40 hours and I could not make a ball with the message for other players. Reason: "You have lost connection to online discovery services." The sent bases are also not seen by other players. Please help.

Update your TLS WinHTTP to 1.1 & 1.2 with Windows Update or download the update as single build and apply it. This is mostly a Windows 7 problem.
