Nota bene - if your ship's still busted, summoning as swg8313 suggests won't work. Although I've seen some people say you get one freebie and I kinda vaguely recall summoning it to a landing pad but it certainly didn't work the second time. If it does work, fix it immediately. Otherwise, check your freighter.
Just hit x and summon it
When I tried to recall my old ship, it’s out of fuel. I have NO idea where it is now. I’ll be experimenting tonight so if I come across anything, I’ll report back with it.
There's a lot this game just doesn't tell you and you have to figure out the hard way :(
Found a crashed ship and claimed it but did not repair it and just left with my old current ship. Went back to base but couldn't summon the crashed ship to my base/location. At the time I logged(quit the game) out since had no time to figure out why I couldn't summon. I was able to summon my other ships though.
Hours past an logged back in and tried to summon ship again and it worked.
So i would try first to save then just reload the save and see if you can summon it and if that doesn't work, than the old log out and log in trick and summon it. The latter workaround worked for me although i didn't tested the first workaround due to time constraints.
