Hello Games  [developer] Nov 1, 2018 @ 3:49am
Experimental Branch 01/11
Hello everyone,

We are continuing to address the highest priority issues reported by the community, as well as introducing new quality of life improvements and features to the game. As always, thank you for playing and taking the time to report any issues you encounter!

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please post them here, or submit a ticket to Zendesk[hellogames.zendesk.com] with the phrase "Steam Experimental 01/11" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report. Note that No Man's Sky does not officially support mods, and the developers cannot resolve issues caused by mods.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man's Sky from the Steam library page and select "Properties". Among the available tabs will be the "BETAS" tab. Select "Code: 3xperimental" in the dropdown menu under "Select the beta you would like to opt into".

Latest changes on Experimental (01/11):
  • Fixed an issue where NPC dialogue could reset if the player's inventory was too full to receive a reward
  • Improved icons for underwater products
  • Fixed an issue with biological horrors and jellyfish in Permadeath mode
  • Fixed an issue with the hypnotic Abyssal Horror and clam in multiplayer
  • Disabled gestures while on ladders
  • Improved some underwater sound effects
  • Fixed some rare crashes
  • Fixed an issue where the interior of the science frigate could be missing
  • Fixed an issue preventing building multiples of storage container 1
  • Prevented an erroneous boost icon appearing while piloting the Nautilon

Hello, couple weeks ago you mentioned the following.

I am interpreting "unlimited base building" meaning I can build unlimited number of bases.

But today I noticed that when I drop a new base computer, the most recently established existing base would just disappear from the galaxy map.

The disappeared base would still show up in the Teleporter list, until I teleport to the disppeared base, and then the game would remove the missing base from the Teleporter list.

I currently have 48+1 bases on my teleporter list. Is that the maximum number of base that I can build?

Great work! Somthing wrong with underwater ruins (although it happens on land too).

I'm at seabed but the ruins spawned above me, floating in the air / water.

Thanks again Sean and HG!

Please, if you're listening intently, please fix the snap points on the old infrastructure parts. The "linking Posts" (formerly known as the "Corner Posts") should snap on the ends of the old infrastructure "Wall" pieces like they used to before NEXT. Also, those old infrastructure "Wall" pieces really need to snap onto the tops of the Cuboid Rooms like they used to before NEXT.

I'm sure it's a small fix that will only take one of your amazingly talented crew members minutes to fix/patch. Those parts being restored back to their original snapping functions will unlock so much more creative base building potential!

These building parts are the only gripes I've had with the whole game since NEXT launched. I've been checking these parts after each and every update to see if they've been fixed yet. I'm still holding out with hope!

Thanks again guys!

Gj as always,

There is one thing that bothers me right now in game. I know there are some bugs that take longer to fix, but in the meantime could you please fix the bug that prevents new saves from getting blueprints for nipnip plant and carbon planters? :( Pretty please, i always had them and created nice greenhouse with them.

You do not get free Freighter anymore. Could you HG confirm if this is a bug or a feature?
Your Freighter crew again changes when switching systems.

Can you fix the annoying stuttering with the scanner? And the micro stutters with vsync on even though the fps is high enough to lock it? This has been happening since the latest view patches.

Any chance you can focus on the bugs instead of new updates? Maybe the negative reviews will return to positives. :-/

I love this game ( 397hrs approx ) but don't play it anymore, ditched it last week. Will definitely return when the bugs that have been around for god knows how long are fixed. And yeah i've reported loads to zendesk with screenshots but to no avail.

My inbox is filled with your request received emails, i have 46 currently not included the one's i deleted! Last bug report i sent was 14/10/18, i don't bother anymore. :-(

Still love HG but please more focus on the bugs!!!

Did you send save files with the bug reports? Also did you check ingame what bugs got fixed because sometimes they fix bugs that aren't mentioned here. I honestly doubt that none of your 40+ bugs that you reported got fixed or atleast looked at.

Yeah i have come across the same bugs i sent in the screenshots. Every bug i came across i took a screenshot and added text, arrows, circles etc. I wasn't born yesterday! And the point of sending the bugs was to help HG's not hinder. I got one reply, that not a critisism as i know they're busy.

Not all were serious bugs but bugs non the less. You obviously haven't read the other posts by other players, i actually laugh now because the bugs i reported and other have reported in one way or another are still here. If i actually posted an old screenshot here right now you'd go "oh that bug". Don't ask cuz i can't be f*cked and you're not HG's!!!

My last undeleted one was 28/8/18 and you don't always need a save file when a picture paint's a thousand words. ;-)

My point is made, i'm outta here. Peace everyone. ;-)

Yeah I agree with you that they should just stop adding content for a while and maybe release a big patch just with bug fixes because even I send them a Email about the state of bugs in No Mans Sky. But I really was just trying to help so I don't get your aggressive attitude towards me. Fact is, no game is 100% bug free and bugs will be always present in No Mans Sky as it's a really large game. Anyways, Good day!

A few things which didn't work in 1.7 (regular):

In the regular 1.7 I have noticed in a single case that there was no building after scanning with the High Power Scanner in the Nautilon and going to the marker, only a flat terrain.

Sometimes when making contact with 'Whispering Eggs' Horror Creatures the game will crash to desktop if the creatures throw the player horizontally.

What I really would like:
PLEASE, make the Nautilon icon visible when you are in your starship so you can return to it from space or when flying over the planet. Thanks!

Greetings to HG for their big work and improvements :=)

Aww. How about implementing boost instead? :)
