Cant harvest Crystal Sulphide

The little crystal things, on the side of the vents in the bottom of an ocean. I see em. Dark greenish, I click E to harvest em, it makes the sound, the vent blows up at me if I dont get away quick enough,

Yet, no collection to inventory. Anyone else having or did have this problem? Cant build the submarine without them, and I cant get them.

I did the usual things. Saved, restarted, reinstalled, travelled to a different system tried those oceans too. In about that order.

Nothing is letting me successfully put the item in my inventory, even though I hear the little collection sound, it does not tell me in the top right what i gathered or how many, and inventory is nice and clean.

you can harvest it without getting blown by the thermal vent. Just watch the clue where the vent is ready to blow. Wait it to blow and after that, you have several seconds to safely harvest the crystal.

No problem like that at all. I get shunted around a bit if I'm not quick enough harvesting the three green crystals and the vent blows... but I still end up with the crystals. (Which you need a bunch of if you're going to use any of the new underwater construction items.)

Are you holding E long enough? I can understand not harvesting if you let go a bit early to not get blasted.

pay close attention, when you swim up on the vent things should kinda rumbles like an earthquake, stay away and wait till it blows, then swim up and harvest. If that is not it try to go "harvest" something else like a plant for oxygen or sodium on the surface, then go try again. and maybe turn in a ticket and send them your save files.
an additional question here? can you harvest the clams? cause you need a few of them also.

On my experience, I can harvest all three crystals within period between the vent blows. you can swim while continue pressing 'E' and point the cursor to crystals. No need to unpress 'E' in-between.

Are you running any mods that change REWARDTABLE?
That was my problem. Couldn't harvest the crystals or living pearls until I deleted a mod that altered that table(it was last updated for Next 1.6)

The vent gives you plenty of warning. And you don't have to be right up on the crystal to grab it off the vent either. Never had a problem with these. Got hit a few times when a vent went off the first few times I did it. But after that, I stayed clear till after it blew, then moved in a grabbed all of the crystals.

The vent isnt the problem, but I appreciate replies. I can hold E, the thing makes the sound, everything rumbles and blows up, but that's not it. There's just nothing in my inventory afterwards.

The only mod I have installed increases the rate of Language learning from items. Does that do what you say?

I actually had the same issue, i uninstalled the extra word learning mod and somehow that helped me. still using other mods and it works fine

My understanding is that Mods change the content of needed files in the game. The Whole file..

So if a mod changes a file and that file also has the updated stuff from HG then you are overwriting part of the game and removing items.

So if the mod was using a version from 1.5 and the game is at 1.6 then anything in theat file will revert back to 1.5 because that is when it was compiled.

Maybe a person who mods can verify that.

Yeah it was definitely the mod that increases how many words you learn. I moved it to the desk top for a while and when "The Abyss" got boring and I built what I could, i put it back. Now the languages are all learned, (even though you still cant understand the most common things NPC merchants say) and i just put it in an archived mod folder.

Apparently "Words" are also on the item list, someone mentioned above.

Everything blows up when you drain it, (complete the little white circle). Some explosions might harm you. Make sure your exosuit isn't full, or else it's a bug.

The rumble and explosion are not connected to removing the crystal sulphide. Those happen all on their own, before, during and after removal of the crystals.

You have to target each crystal independently, holding "e" to completion each time.

If that is what you are doing and you still aren't finding crystals in your inventory (I'm assuming you have empty inventory slots too) then you do indeed have some problem, because I was just collecting some of them last night.

This is a perfect demonstration why a license should be required for anyone attempting to use mods with this game. They ignore the game warning and mindlessly click through, never spending the time to read and investigate and understand just what is involved and how it can go sideways with any game update or the addition of a conflicting mod. This thread should be stickied as a warning to anyone considering mods without understanding the risks and how to avoid them.

I think this thread from a year ago was already resolved.
