sometoimes i wonder how you guys discover all this kind of stuff.
Destroying those freighter cargo pods causes very satisfying explosions -- like hitting the Depot containers on a planet's surface. It also provokes a huge sentinel response and starts a massive space battle... with the Sentinels eventually sending in mighty carriers to unleash their waves of fighters. It was huge fun.
If that sounds fun to anyone, send me a note -- I'm definately psyched to try it again, and having a wingman is extremely helpful (for obvious reasons).
Also, it should be said, the haul of goods was pretty impressive.
Just curious but can you tell whether and if so by how much the attack on the freighter affected your "standing" with the Vy'keen? ISTR that, early on, there was some discussion that players who went rogue would be more likely to trigger a sentinel response, as well.
Sure, it makes them really pissy!
I've been looking for these. Any hints?
I didn't compare my Vykeen standing before & after the attack, but there was no message saying my standing had dropped.
We just tried another such freighter attack this evening. This time, while I was punching holes through an unsupecting freighter's deck with my phase beam, my partner and wingman had to bail and quit the session -- instead of taking out the enemy deck guns as agreed. Bad timing, but what's a space pilot to do?
It was a very hairy battle, and I churned through a couple hundred sodium nitrate renewing my damaged shields, but I'm really getting pretty deadly with my suped-up Positron Ejector (don't leave home without one!).
