Any more hostile predators?
Has anyone come across a hostile predator since NEXT came out? Just before next I was playing, and started finding some pretty cool, big and huge, hostile predators. They were theropod-like, both in size and shape, toothy, some had feathers or other things, and some were quite aggressive. I thought this was an interesting aspect of the game, to periodically come across hostile creatures, especially large ones.

Has this aspect of the game been eliminated in NEXT?

Trying this mod out, very modular, pick and choose how you want the game affected...

I took shield damage from a predator tonight. It pounced on the critter I was feeding for a coprite collection mission. Apparently they do AOE damage.
I think there's no need for any regen. No need for one (code) system to have a gen side-effect on another sub-system. A simple consistant "srand(value);" before generating that thing will ensure that anything random before that won't effect this.

I doubt they're using std whatever, but the concept is the same.

So for example, previous save I would buy stuff, including catalysts. But the shop would sell different ones each minor update. That is silly. So was the fix to remove them (better gameplay anyway), or should they not have been there in the first place and that's why they bugged out.

tl;dr a shop should sell similar items forever, even if the player doesn't ever buy anything!

I have not noticed yet. But if the removed predator creatures, that would be silly.
On a procedurally generated game it would be pretty much impossible to make substantial changes to planet topography without forcing a reset... or destroying LOTS of existing bases. You can't change only the non-discovered planets in a game like this--no planet is "saved" anywhere in its current state. The seed number and algorithms determine all the states of all planets, and changing it will change everything.

Now--changes in some things--like fauna aggressiveness--wouldn't be such a game breaking change and can (and should!!!) be done without a reset. Although some people may be a bit miffed when the cute puppysaurs on their favorite paradise planet suddenly want to eat their faces.

In my 70 hours or so visiting all types of planets (green, red and blue and black hole around) not a single animal went aggressive on me at first contact not even when I stood 1 feet away from them.
I DID saw them (very casually) run and attack other creatures. And even rarer they retaliate to me when I shoot them. But the whole "fight" ends in 2 or 3 bolt lazers. Boring.

But yeah, not a single time they were out to hunt me or whatever.

Hello Games have to devote more time to upgrading creatures variety, animations, AI and more threats. Instead they focus on adding new skins for buried tech and updated graphics at module vendors. I understand, but at some point if we don't get more planet variation I will stop playing VERY soon. It is getting boring fast doing same few mission types and seeing such similar worlds with *slight tweaks* and I run 43 mods right now to improve that and it still isn't any better to keep me playing. I have 489 hours in the game, 150 on next and I really wanna see more procedural content, even procedural rogue like dungeons - kinda similar to minecraft. I wanna explore an underground base, run into scary aliens and monsters to either avoid or fight. Heck even an empty base with just corpses of gek or vykeen or korvax etc or EVEN myself - imagine seeing yourself dead everywhere. Wondering how many times your simulated self has returned and died - this time will be different!

No that doesn't happen - not yet anyway. I just see creatures squeeking - nothing intimidating. I mean even the 5-7m creatures SQUEEK! Like wtf, come on HG. I know it's your vision but still - think outside the box and don't be afraid to challenge your players and add action.

They need to spend a good 6 months just focusing on adding more threats to the game, pirates on foot, more fauna, fauna variation and possibly a bit of a mature upgrade to animal meshes and textures to noot look cartoonish and childish.

I hope they can just flip a switch and have the predators agressive to players again.. cos it's kinda immersion breaking walking across a planet knowing for sure NOTHING living on this planet except plants is hostile unless I inititae some kinda of agression.
The red icon comes up as if this meat eater is not happy, but he just gives the player a nudge. It should be like the Sentinal dogs when up close, we should be running for our lives.

Have it similar to games when people moaned blood should be green, so it defaults green and grown-ups/everyone can go in settings and select "Red" (or "Aggressive" for meat eaters).
The general fauna I have seen since NEXT have had quite a diversity, but I am starting to see a bit of repitition as I explore more planets and systems.

In terms of predators, I have seen some that attack the peaceful fauna (i.e, the herbivores/peaceful animals) and then they have an animation of eating the prey. I have not had an animal actually attack me out of free will, but some, especially the larger predators, have attacked me if I shot first. One of the huge floating carnivores with the large tentacles actually did enough damage to kill me really quickly (like in 5 seconds or so).

I'm kind of sad that after NEXT animals don't naturally attack you, unlike before, which makes exploring a bit more boring, predictable, and repetitive. I understand that new players with little gear and/or little knowledge and experience may struggle with the AI and find it frustrating to be attacked for doing nothing, but still, there are solutions. Possibly, one day, Hello Games could fix this by making the predators naturally aggressive towards you after you've reached a certain point or armed your multi-tool with a weapon (the same with star ships could be also good).

Yeah, defo need hostile creatures once in a while. When scanned and discovered hostile creatures are anything but...

Instead of posting here (where nobody pays attention) players need to inform the developers via their contact.

EDIT: See hostile creatures mod, but read description:

It's like they gave downers to all the fauna with Next.

It really hurts the "kill predators" missions for me. The only time I justified killing animals in game pre-NEXT is when they were ones that would try to kill me. Now I don't do any such missions because I don't like the feeling of gunning down an animal that shows absolutely no aggression toward me.
If you want to do Kill Predator missions, go to an abandoned building and shoot the eggs. You can kill dozens of predators in a minute.

Thanks, wasn't sure if that counted.

Perfect! Thanks!
Actually, there are quite a few mods at Nexus that return the aggressive behaviour in some animals. I ended up not liking Space Safari, I think the author went too far and its like a zoo on all planets now b/c he removed the fauna limit on hazard planets. It's just too unrealistic for me, but some of his other features are nice, and b/c it is in modular files you can pick and choose.

Am using Fantastic Beasts with the balanced aggressive option, would hate to see what the full-on aggressive option would play like, read below...

Beware what you ask for! I was mining and got attacked from behind, was killed in just two strikes on survival mode. That sucked... Hopefully the devs will improve combat a bit soon, rather than just nerf that which they can't be bothered with...
