Are freighter size differences just cosmetic?

I had a C class 24 slot freighter which was absolutely gargantuan, then I found myself an S class 34 slotter which is way shorter than the previous although the same model.

Are there any significant differences or just the visuals? Is there less space for base construction inside of it?

It is a shame because I was thinking I was pretty much done farming an S freighter. Just the visuals alone kinda made me sad, because the huge one was so great looking.

Yes, just a look. You can hunt another freighter if you want, or you change your freighter appearance by using NMSSaveEditor.

In the current version it's cosmetic only.

During Pathfinder the number of slots was tied to freighter physical size, like with regular ships, but not anymore.

You usually get more slots with better rank (C, B, A, S) but both things are unrelated to the freighter model.

Well, I got an A class Capital with 33 slots (only missing one for the max) and she has a bunch of storage spheric modules in the sides.

I just trade my previous S Sentinel Dread with this S Venator Dread. If you have Units and time to spend, you can hunt for another freighter that fit with your taste.
