Nope. Dismantle it before moving on.

Yes, for multiplayer, everyone will end up in the same system and galaxy where the game session that they join is taking place.

Only the materials used to build your base (but not stuff inside containers) if you don't dismantle it first.

All tech in your main inventory, multi-tool, and the main inventory of your currently active ship will be broken and need to be repaired with materials, but that's not really 'losing' the upgrades exactly.

Tech installed in the tech slots will not break.

The freighter goes with you, as well as the frigates, and any other non-active ships that you have, and the tech on those will be intact.

I don't know everything about it but I do know that...

1. No, your base is deleted and you need to build a new one in your new galaxy.
2. NO IDEA, this is what I would like to know as well
3. Only your base, you keep your ship, inventory, upgrades, freighter, frigates, etc. AS FAR AS I'VE BEEN TOLD

Personally I'm still split on whether I want to delete my awesome underwater base and rebuild it, or just stay in Euclid Galaxy and meet people.

You have your broken ship and all your stuff. Your base is boxed up to mats in your base storage.

Kind of sucks.

I do not know if you can join a group that has members in another galaxy. I dont think so. I join lots of randoms and thay are all in 1st galaxy. All the galaxys share the same address thay just use a different seed for the systems but the address are all good in both galaxys just different types of systems.

my old save is in Eissantam. i joined a random game and it put me in a game in Euclid. i haven't joined someones game specifically, but since random games work across galaxies i assume joining specific ones do as well. if you like we can test it out. send me a friend invite and i'll try joining your game.

1. You can't return, all your bases are deleted.
2. You can still play with your friends, but when you load your game, you will appear in the second galaxy. If they join your game they will travel to your galaxy, and if you join theirs you will travel to the first galaxy (Euclid).
3. You don't lose anything, when you arrive in the second galaxy most of your equipment and ship is broken and you have to repair.

EDIT: Don't try to teleport to the second galaxy if you joined a game in the first, you will appear in the middle of the space and will die by cosmic rays, losing all your equipment. The same when you start your game in the second galaxy, and try to teleport to the first. Only travel in the galaxy you are.

Same here...do not try teleporting home from a station...cosmic radiation death!

Did not try just jumping out of my ship and quitting...that might work to get back to your home galaxy.

Going to a new galaxy is a writ of passage for NMS. I waited almost a year before I made my first jump. Never took either base down and no issues. Some folks are just very resource minded and got to pack the station wagon full before they go on vacation.

It'd be nice if they kept all your bases in all the galaxies you discover, never know you might decide to go back and relive some old memories! Curious though does your base just get stored, or does it totally vanish?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Also your teleporter list will be empty and need to be repopulated with stuff in the new galaxy. They don't work across galaxies. You can't switch galaxies with portal addresses, either.

Answer: you play for an hour maybe, then you get out the backup from before leaving and camp at the core!

I've done that twice, both times returning back to a place surrounded by stars with the word "Contact". It feels great owning a star (if you can find a decent unclaimed one around the < 5K LY core). An other galaxy I visited was just empty, perhaps I should've gone to that core too but no doubt it would also be empty as people there would tend to move on I would imagine.

Ah that could be in the next patch notes: "Fixed removal of bases, works 100%".
