Sentinel Base Attack
I'm on the mission where sentinels attack my base. It says I have to destroy 8 but the mission keeps resetting. And sometimes the sentinels just stop spawning. Is it bugged or am I doing something wrong?

Yes Sentinels stop spawning under a lot of circumstances currently. Especially when completing the freighter mission board's planetary harvester/depot quests, even after you kill all the initial forces it will be stuck in a permanent 5 star wanted state unless you go back into space again where their ships start spawning.

They are aware of it if I remember right. Might be in one of the experimental notes.

You gotta keep going until you solo the walker (big guy), kill the 2 small sentinels, then kill the other 2 small and the dog, then kill another 2 tiny and the big one, then it will let you continue.. it never refreshed for me either but it worked in the end.

Also make sure not to lose your wanted level,to keep from resetting don't go under a cave/inside your base, you can take cover outside your base but never get inside, you have to fight until you kill the big guy, remember to kill the tiny sentinels first though they heal the big ones.

To solo the walker Id advice getting the plasma launcher , shoot the legs armor first, then you will be able to shoot the torso, make sure to load up with tons of projectile ammo

The way I get it is you have to kill 8 sentinels in one run. The rest of the crap it throws at you is ok to avoid as long as you kill the sentinels.

yea i had to reload a ton of times to get it to work, sometimes they spawned up in the air with no agro

That walker thing kills me way too fast. I've never had the plasma launchers do any damage to it. I've only ever been able to kill it with my ship.

I've given some advice on how to complete this mission (my game was in permadeath) on this topic, feel free to read it:

And I ended up having to post a video on how to do it, if you prefer to watch it:

There you go, video proof of it being completed just as I said.

Edit: The times when I use the visor, its because the mission progress and current stage is listed on the right side, so you can see it progressing and then ultimately being completed and sending you back to the armourer after the first Walker wave is done. Then I kill another walker wave just for giggles.

I've also shown in the video which upgrade configurations I'm using for suit and multi-tool.
You probably don't need that much tech in other game modes, but being in permadeath I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Don't go inside your base/ship that resets the counter with pretty much a gurantee. Also fully defeat waves to make it stick more consistently and then hide somewhere... other then base/ship.

It can be somewhat annoying because sentinels lose track very easily and just reset it. Kill first 2, wait for the next 2 armored sentinels + dog. Kill the 2 floating toasters and then bail out and just walk behind your base until dog resets. Shoot dog and wait for more toasters to come over, kill toasters reset dog... repeat as needed.

Killed walker with basic shotgun on survival... I had no upgrade modules on my multitool and still had only my starting ship. So walker isn't bad... he just takes like 2 boxes of ammo. Keep shooting legs, legs and nothing else at first. The whole mechanic about when and how he takes damage seems a bit wonky to me. But lets act same way as armored sentinels you blast off armor and then it's just gets easier. Entire body/head/ what ever of walker seems to now have a lot of issues with registering hits of any kind. Grenades hit it only like once every 20 attempts... bullets just fly right thru... lazer does nothing... armor was regenerating... after first 5 minutes I stopped even trying to do anything to the torso.

Anyway gl. It looked very finicky. But for once I went through all the specialists missions, with base on water planet and didn't run into a single bug. Miracles do happen... last time with Atlas update... oh boy.... I had issues upon issues.

It is pretty easy if you fully upgrade your suit and multitool. If you are running around with a plain vanilla suit and tool, you are likely toast.

its buggy. I ended up decimating my base area with grenades and killed about 15 before it accepted 8. The walker became immune to damage at one point as well. This mission needs a revisit.

Take a look at the video that I posted a couple replies up, it shows where to hit the walker to fully strip off its armor, and then where to hit it when the armor is gone (I aimed for the critical hit spot, tho I missed it a couple times and did only normal damage instead)

I upgraded my plasma launcher, that seemed to make a big difference. I took one down outside of the mission zone so I think I can handle the mission now, so long it doesn't bug out on me.
