PS4 Controller
Hello. I am using a PS4 Controller. When in the inventory I am supposed to press down on right stick to delete the item. I can't do that. I have to use my mouse.
If I change to a generic template that is fine, I can use RS to delete item, until I want to fly, I use inverted stick.
I noticed with the steam controller setup you have different tabs for On Foot, flight...
How can i do the same thing for a template setup I made?
I hope this makes sense. Thanks for taking time.

I use an XB1 Elite Controller and have no such issue (s). My single configuration works across the entire game with no need to make any kind of changes at all. All I did was plug the Windows Wireless Dongle into my PC and turn on the controller and pair it to that device. Windows handled the rest. I didn't even see a config menu for the game. It just worked.

Might be something to do with the DS4 implementation you are using on your PC.

I'm not using a DS4, except what is built into the game and steam uses. Back in the day, I used to have an Xbox 360, but I liked the PS controller better.
I'll try one of the DS4 I have. Maybe I need to get an Xbox controller. I know it would make it easier.

The Elite Controller is GREAT for this game. Having the assignable paddles on the bottom along with the optional backlit ChatPad is fantastic on a PC. You get all the control of a GamePad along with access to all the keybindings of a Mouse and Keyboard setup. All in one handheld device.

The Elite also provides two stored controller configs at one time, so I have NMS on one position and Elite Dangerous on the other. You just flip a two way toggle to change the button layout for the game you are playing. In my case, that is almost always NMS and Elite Dangerous. My NMS settings work perfectly for GTA5, so I don't even need a special config for GTA.

You can save as many of these as you want and just load them in and out of the controller using the companion app.

I LOVE my DS4s on my PS4 Pro... But when it comes to using a GamePad on my Gaming PC, the Elite smokes everything else. Including the DS4.

They are not cheap, but they are worth it if you play a lot.

Does anyone know how to make the different tabs work for different areas in the game? IE: on foot controls, in flight controls...
So you don't have to keep changing inputs.
I can make the different tabs, but I didn't see how to them work properly.

I don't understand what you mean by "Tabs". ?? You shouldn't need to have different controller configs for different parts of the game. One size fits all as far as I am concerned.

Never felt the need to change what any of the buttons or sticks do based on what I am doing in-game.

I installed NMS, plugged my controller in and started too play. I read that Steam but default uses its Steam controller profile. In game, if you look at settings, there are different tabs for like I was saying. I used a blank template but can't get the different controls for on foot/in flight

Ok. My friend figured it out for me. It seems Steam was running their mapper. I unchecked it from within the Settings/Controller...everything is good, even proper flight control.
Thanks to everyone for your help.

I have been having issues with this as well... Like no running is mapped in the default settings, and when i try to change melee attack to running, i still cant run, even if the melee attack is disabled... Also doesnt work to delte items... Trying to map it to the regular buttons i use in keyboard mode... Much easier than that complicated steam mapping with different tabs for vehicle and on foot and menus and all that stuff...
