Huh? You're happy you got an Nvidia GPU? Or not? Be glad you got the 1070 and not a 1060. Nvidia has dropped the performance of their xx60 series a lot from previous generations. The last good x60 that could be called a gaming GPU was the 560Ti. After that every x60 series was a joke IMO.

What kind of overclock do you have on your 7700k? I've got the same CPU and get great performance with this game.

I'm running mine at 5Ghz along with an EVGA 1080ti FTW3 overclocked to a 2070Mhz Boost Clock and an extra 300Mhz on the Memory Clock.

I'm getting a locked 60fps @ 1080p with Ultra/High Settings.

Might be your choice of driver package. I have had mixed results with all of the 400 series driver updates so far. SoI am still running with 398.82 which has proven to be the best package for my system to date.

Maybe try running with that driver version and see if you get better performance.

And if you haven't overclocked that 7700k, you are leaving at least 15% of its performance on the table. 15% more CPU performance can make a huge difference in a CPU intensive game like NMS.

CPU overclock?
7@UP Oct 23, 2018 @ 1:26pm
no,no need to oc,about 40-70% for utilisation for all my games.

Huh? You basically wasted your money buying a "k" SKU then. ;o)

If you are afraid to overclock a CPU designed to be overclocked, then next time save your money and buy the "Non-K" version. That is basically what you are running in your system, since you are not utilizing any of the performance advantages of the "K" version.

Just an FYI for you and anyone else unfamiliar with the difference between a "k" sku part and the "non k" sku part. And as I said above, a 15% overclock would more than likely get you a locked 60fps in NMS.

loll I know, but personally OC is a waste of time, later when the game will ask 7700k for minimum. Anyway my psu is too cheap I can't oc anyway :)

What?? Dude! Seriously! ! What are you even talking about? How is a 15-20% increase in CPU performance a waste of time?

You are complaining about FPS performance in a highly CPU demanding game, sitting on a 7700k that you haven't overclocked? Buy a better PSU to allow a descent overclock while also preventing your 7700 from dying prematurely due to dirty power, or under volts. LOL!

Waste of time? Yeah... This thread is a waste of time to anyone offering solid advice that you will apparently ignore.

Whatever. A GPU driver ain't going to resolve this issue since your game is currently CPU Bound. Until you address that, you are never going to hit a locked 60fps in this game.

And I already gave you the version number of the best GPU driver for a Nvidia 10 series / 7700k combo. The fact that you saw no improvement only underlines the fact that your GPU isn't the problem.

At least you aren't blaming the game for your frame rate issues like the majority of players in a similar situation always do. ;o)

That is one positive here.

I would seriously buy a proper PSU ASAP. Otherwise, you will end up losing the 7700k.

I'm running with an EVGA Supernova 850P2. EVGA makes some of the best PSUs out there, at a fair price along with a really good P&L warranty.

You could probably get by with the 750 watt version with a 1070, but if you ever plan to run anything above that like a 1080ti or higher, the 850 would be a better more future proof investment.
