"I edited the original Exotic ID to a Fighter ..."
"I also upped the cargo slot count to 34 to match the "S" Class Fighter norms..."
You can do what you want, it's your game (nice looking ship)... but...
... BOOOOO !... HiSSSSS...
... i stood atop the observation deck of a trade outpost for 7-days! watching hundreds of ships fly in-and-out (seven play sessions, that included some other missions and stuff, so you dont think me mad) ... waiting for just ONE S-class version of this (very rare) micro-fighter... (29-5/slots - 59%/dmg_22%-shld_0%-hyper)
(isn't it cute, a fighter that thinks it's a shuttle... but it does do 15,288 [s-max Cyclotron, only], maneuverability= 650max, handles extremely well, bonus about equal to exotic)

I am hoping in the NEXT update, they will add ship customization blueprints/missions/rewards etc., where either, when you find a ship design you like you can upgrade it from whatever class you originally bought it for up-to highest rank, and/or also be able to add different external parts/colors/features, etc., to existing ship... i would love to be able to add 2 more gun-pods to the top of this ship, to get me 30,000+DMG(lol)
:)
I'm not a big fan of fighters, but I really like that one. Nice!
Here ya go!

I found another in the same system you might like as well. No image at the moment, but check it out if you want.

Hold your horses! I've done tons of Trading Post Camping over the last 2+ years this game has been around. Ship hunting has always been one of my primary focuses in NMS.
Don't assume that players who use the Editor and ship seeds haven't done plenty of ship hunting in their game. Often far more than the majority of other players have. Where do you think my extensive "personal" Ship Seed Database came from?
So... Just as you said to me, I can easily say the exact same thing back to you... lol
"You can do what you want, its your game".
But I am pretty sure I am getting a wee bit more bang for the buck out of all my ship hunting efforts than you are. And so are all the players who have used the nearly 100 Ship andFreighter Seeds I originally discovered and shared over on the NMS Seed Club website. ;o)
And here is a bit of info for all the NMS Vanilla Version players out there regarding Ship Seeds...
A ship seed only provides the exterior model/skin to the ship asset file. Seeds do not contain any performance, slot count or weapons data. The user of the Seed needs to furnish an actual ship to apply the new Seed value to. But that is all that needs to be done to change just the look.
If you want to make the ship perform like the ID the new Seed represents, then you would also edit the Ship ID data point and possibly the slot count like I did in this case. Changing the ID from Exotic to Fighter actually downgrades the performance and maneuverability, due to the fact that the Exotic Class ships outperform the Fighter Class on all levels regardless of individual specs.
Hardly what I would call using the editor to gain a performance advantage. lol!
It's not a question of "bang for the buck". Some people value quality over quantity and feel more accomplishment when they put in the extra effort to find "the best", rather than "the most".
IMO, in your OP you could have just stopped after the second paragraph and showed the pictures. Not only is the fact that you changed the B class ship into an S class ship irrelevant, in some readers eyes it actually serves to diminish your accomplishment.
Yeah, i was being somewhat facetious about that post... i have used many MODs over the past couple years, until HG made NEXT which now (imho) needs no MODs any longer. My favorite MODS were "Pride of Euclid" and "Spaceflight Overhaul" ... those 2 MODs are alot closer to what might be considered "cheats" than your simple skins and stats for a ship you like, lol:)
Have Fun!
Well... Thank You for clarifying your previous post for me. :oD
I must admit... I found it a bit of a head scratcher considering the process required to discover, glean and then publish a ton of previously unpublished ship seed numbers to Reddit, Steam and the NMS Seed Club. :o)
As far as Mods are concerned... NEXT certainly did go a long way to lowering the need for mods in some areas but...
There are still plenty of them out there that really improve the overall NMS NEXT experience. I am currently running 28 mods in total. Most are quality of life improvements/enhancements. Another large chunk of the ones I use are focused on improving the look of the game environments including getting rid of the cartoony looking space colors and replacing them with BLACK space and stars w/ colorful Nebulae. I have another mod that does the same to the GMAP, so my actual space look matches what I see in the Galaxy Map.
Imagine NMS with an Elite Dangerous starscape and that is what my NMS in space experience looks like.
Another mod I use vastly improves the realism of the water/ocean textures, with another two mods making the clouds and sky effects much more realistic and accurate to real world weather behavior.
Primarily by slowing down the cloud movement and morphing speeds to realistic levels, removing the cloud shadows that inexplicably move in the "opposite direction" of the actual clouds in the sky, and restoring much of the realistic water surface textures found in Atlas Rises back into the game.
EUCLI-EA is now fully NEXT compatible, so if you are into base building and haven't checked out what that can do, you really owe it to yourself to give it a spin! I frankly would not play the game if I couldn't have all the cool goodies at my bases that Eucli makes possible.

P.S. Did you ever try out Kremit the Frog's "MOAR EXOTICS" mod? It came out near the close of my Exotic Ship hunting efforts, and basically turned the ship spawn RNG behavior on its head. Making Exotic Ships the most commonly spawned ships in the game. It helped to confirm that I had actually discovered everything that was in the game save for one missing ship (another story), and in a lot of ways, I am glad it didn't come out sooner. It would have been hard to resist using that to speed up my hunting progress! lol!
Unfortunately, Kremit has retired from modding and has pulled all of his mods from the internet. So if you don't have the files, you can't get them anymore.
So because of the conflicts and confusion between versions, and only a week's window between, I pulled my mods publicly.. Hopefully if/when NEXT stabilizes, I can release the updated mods (or at least any that are still necessary/preferred). I hope to make MoarExotics custom tailorable via batch script that creates the .pak file based on input values for ship frequency.
I've also been playing with the NMSDK some but having to create my collisions from one of 3 limited primitives, creating the collisions can sometimes be a challenge, or even an outright impossibility. So I've done a few custom ships in game, but progress is slow and I've gotten very demotivated and distracted with RL.. haven't even gotten around to playing NMS since Abyss update..

I messed with the save editir a bit... You can get 100's of seeds in a short time using it.
If that;s your thing. I know that isn't what you mean by using the editor.
I assume you use the editor to get the seed after you found the ship, etc... in game and purchased it.
Hey there buddy!
Glad to hear that you are still active in the modding community! Your ships look very cool!
Been meaning to ask you...
Whatever happened to the Custom Exotic Ship Cockpit Project you were working on last year? If memory serves, were you not planning to design some more appropriate looking interiors for the various Exotic Ship models than the "PlaceHolder" Explorer Ship Cockpit HG lazily included originally and has never revisted?
I would still LOVE to see what you can come up with as a truly EPIC and EXOTIC looking cockpit interior for ships like the Squid, the Type 7 and other variants.
I am sure the entire community of Exotic Ship fans would also LOVE to see something like that.
