PSA: Game keeps minimizing on Windows 10? My fix...
Does your NMS fullscreen game occassionally minimize to the desktop? Do you have an Epson printer?

After struggling with this problem for a long time, I eventually found that the culprit was a file named E_FINVLBE.EXE, installed by Epson. This .EXE file will run itself every hour, stealing focus when it does, and can result in minimizing games. Its only function seems to be to check for updates, and turning all automatic updates off within the Epson Manager does not stop it from executing.

If you delete it or rename it, it reinstalls and corrects itself. You must disable the program instead:

- Do a search for the file. Mine was installed under C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\x64\3.
- R-click on the file E_FINVLBE, making sure you select the application and not the CFG file
- Select 'Properties', then the 'Security' tab
- To change permissions, click the 'Edit..' button
- Select the user 'SYSTEM', and then check the Deny box for all of the Allowed permissions (Full Control, Modify, Read & Execute, Read, Write)
- Click 'Apply', and click 'yes' to the warning boxes that open up as a result of this.

NMS has not minimized for me since I've done this, and the printer/scanner are working just fine.

This good info for those who has the same problem. In the past there was many such little exe's updaters wich minimize gaming in full and windows. Very anoying these.
You must be happy now not being interfere with this anymore, im sure, I was when it happened to me many times :steamhappy:
Considering we are talking about WINDOZE here, nothing ever surprises me. ;o) I have Cannon Lasers, so no Epsons here.

But I have had the game jump out of being selected and get the Windows desktop instead with NMS in the Task Bar still running. (can hear the audio running). I just select it from the Task Bar and it comes back up filling the screen as normal.

I haven't touched a thing when this has happened in the past. Its only happened a few times to me. Had the same thing happen with Elite Dangerous as well. No idea what causes it, but it is annoying and can be fatal. As was the case for me once in ED. I was jumping to a new system and the screen minimized just as I was coming out of warp. Flew into the star and got destroyed. (Damaged Ship Before the event)

I downloaded a focus logger, and ran that in the background while playing NMS to find out what was causing the problem. You might want to try the same:

Just wanted to say a big thanks. Had no idea there is such a thing as a focus logger, but with your suggestion I found out my problem was caused by Epson Event Manager application.
Thanks again!
