Longest jump range ship?
I'm all about jump range. I recently grabbed a beautiful 19/6 exotic and am wondering if I also need a max jump range explorer - or are the exotics equal to the S class explorers in jump range on average (I'm sure it varies a bit ship to ship)?

Whichever one has the biggest bonus in that stat ends up with the greater range, provided the upgrade modules aren't too mediocre; each (S) adds between 200LY and 250LY to your total. With six of 'em that's up to 300LY 'lost' right there, not to mention the synergy bonuses from having them all grouped up!

If you're lucky you can get 2500LY or more.

My Freighter S-Class with a total of 3 upgrades in tech slots can go a little below than 2200 LJ. The Hyperdrive is at 58%.

How do you get the upgrades for freighters? I've never seen a freighter with that high of a hyperdrive bonus. That sounds crazy good.

maximum freighter bonus in game at the momeht is 40 % and the upgrades aren't in either. so most likely a pre-next savegame.

The freighter upgrades were removed from circulation. While they technically do exist there is currently no way to obtain them in-game.

Unfortunately if you start a game in NEXT you currently won't get these upgrades because they are not completely in the game yet, I'm using an old savegame from Atlas Rises and had the blueprints before, that's the reason I have them.

But they are implemented already, and their blueprints need ressources only found in NEXT. I think they will be in the game shortly in the comming patches.

That's pretty stupid on the devs part to take out the upgrades for the freighters.

If they do bring them back, I wouldn't even bother warping with starships anymore. 2200 LJ for freighter is good enough for me to remove all the indium drives and warp upgrades from my ships so I can use the freed up slots for other upgrades.

There are a lot of 'stupid things' that are being done, and usually for a good reason... usually. Hopefully there is something in the works for freighter hyperdrives, which would easily explain stuff getting pulled now.

As someone said, why bother with a starship to warp to different places if your freighter is better?

I've had better luck with explorers over exotics, mainly due to having enough inventory/tech slots for 6 hyperdrive upgrades. On a Normal playthrough I got around 2600 ly on a large explorer. On survival I have 2460ly jump range. Mainly due to slight variation in bonus and the rng on the upgrades. I like the exotic's but I'd rather have the slots to upgrade shields and weapons as well as the engines. By the time I upgraded the exotic I only had a couple of slots left for cargo. So far the explorer jumps almost as far as an exotic, fights almost as well as a fighter and has plenty of inventory slots left. Makes it a good daily driver if you can find a maxed out S class, took me close to 25 hours of looking then found one in a poor Gek system after I had given up.

64% Explorer is as efficient as a 64% Exotic. If you got 3 connected tech slots free and 3 connected slots around your hyperdrive you get full synergy for your 6 modules. Which means 700% range of fuel (2.85% fuel per jump) and around 2250ly jump range. S-class modules of course...

Do the percentages tend to be the same for them though, or does the explorer have a better chance of a high roll there?

explorer and exotic have the same bonus range maxed at 65%

I'm looking at the stats of my currently active exotic ships right now and it looks like she has a Hyperdrive Range of 1461 Ly. My 34 slot "S" Class Freighter with the +15% Hyperdrive Boost gets 1730.4 Ly.

Not really sure what the jump ranges are for my other 5 exotic ships. They all have similar upgrades to the Hyperdrive systems, and I never feel like I am being held back from jumping to where ever I feel like jumping to. :o)

But I do know that back at the end of Atlas Rises before the reset and everything, my freighter had a jump range closer to 2400 Ly. But as I said above... These current ranges have been fine for my needs. I never feel like I am being held back or limited during my exploration sessions.

I think because HG has removed the 'portal loophole' which allowed the players pre-NEXT to build a base on the destination system of a portal, and by this way making a good shortcut to the galaxy center, they should provide these freighter upgrades and allowing a top S-Class freighter with best numbers to travel maximum about 5000 LJ. This would be a compensation for the missing loophole and make travels towards the galaxy center still long, but not 'eternal' like now.

A player travelling towards the center would have 5000 LJ towards a black hole + about 6000-7000 LJ when using the black hole making it approx. 12000 LJ with a freighter warp cell. That's fair enough I think when considering the huge dimension of NMS galaxies.

If this would be done, there would however still be an advantage to warp with your Starship: Only by warping with your starship you can enter space battles when arriving in a system the first time, with freighters this is not possible.
