Star Seed/Rememberance confusion... (possible spoilers)
I really love NMS (I started with Next). I undertand people's complaints about the bugs, but I consider the game a work in progress and appreciate HG's continued efforts to improve things.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each aspect of the game. After learning the ropes, I accomplished a lot of what I set out to do (big badass ships, cool base, crafting alchemy knowledge, frigate grand fleet, 10 in all but one milestone, and loved by the Korvax, Gek and Vy'keen). Then I decided to try to complete the Atlas story.

I ended up taking the choice to go to another galaxy, and after repairing all my gear (and saying a sad goodbye to my cool bases in the Euclid!) I continued the game undaunted. I built the Captured Nanode all the way up to the Heart of the Sun... which then upgraded to either the Star Seed or Rememberance? Ironically, I can't remember.

I even installed the Star Seed next to the Rememberance for an extra hit point bonus (which was not something I anticipated).

But I am pretty confused. Are there two parallel Atlas quest lines? What does the Rememberance have to do with the Star Seed?

I understand that the Star Seed is supposed to somehow end up igniting a new sun. But I don't recall noticing any suns igniting. Could I have missed it? I am not the world's most observant guy, but that seems like a pretty big event to miss.

Shifting focus, since I can now see Black Holes on the Galaxy map, I tried to make it to the center of the Eissenstam galaxy, but without Nada making suggestions, the Black Holes aren't that useful.

I suspect I'm missing something. Any guidance would be appreciated!

AFAIK, exiting a black hole is always going to net you a closer position relative to the center of your current galaxy than where you were before entering it.
Maestro Rugosa 2018 年 10 月 6 日 下午 4:24
True, but only the smallest fraction of distance -- a virtually pointless gain. It would take dozens and dozens of jumps to get appreciably closer to the center. I can't imagine that's what the designers have in mind.

Really wish the devs would re-name them "Worm Holes", since that is what they are. A true black hole would obliterate you and your ship into atoms at the center of the gravitational compression disc of the collapsed planet, then spew your energy back out in the lightyear long streams of energy that project on each side of the disc from the center. Anyway, they really need to be re-named for proper accuracy.

True. It always makes me smile when I see a "black hole" about 3/4 of a mile from hundreds of little asteroids and big fat planets. "Wouldn't that black hole have exerted a little gravity around here, maybe tidied things up a bit?"

Unfortunatley, Nada is essential to blackholes/worm holes. I tried without him and although I reached a system (*with one planet) only 3kLY from Eissentam centre, I am imprisoned and can only warp to local star systems as all systems surrounding those are blcoked as though I used a portal.

Frustrating news, Finch... but it probably saved me 50 hours of wasted game play time -- so thanks!

Can you shed any light on the Star Seed/Rememberance thing?
Finch 2018 年 10 月 6 日 下午 6:04
Oh sorry got a bit sidetracked. Rembrance is for accessing consoles which fill in part of the story which are places you have already visited behind locked atlas pass doors. Seems kind of redundant because why would you want to go back to where you have been. Rembrance has no function as an upgrade.

Star Seed is blackhole protection which increase your health x1

I am quite happy in my little secluded world (at least this save) plenty of action re pirates and the surrounding systems are lucrative with some very nice planets.

I have gone back and done some Harvester Raid missions... those are the ones with the v2 door locks down side coridors and that elaborate "laser grid" room in back with a Rememberance lock. Some very cool lore to be found back there!

But I recall another back room with a Rememberance lock -- attached to some big bulky mainframe-type machine. I haven't been able to remember where I saw that.
Finch 2018 年 10 月 6 日 下午 6:19
You will find those mainframes in observatories (not all) but they don't do anything particularly exciting and what you gain from consoles w/o the mainframe is the same thing.

OK, thanks again -- saved me a few hours!

Looks like I have scraped as much novelty from this cool game as possible... at least for now. Maybe it's time to restart...
