What is possible though is that 2 players from different systems visit a planet through a Portal at the same time (because there is a base, or a multitool etc.). When they leave again they´ll be back at their respective starting planet.
I have read all the speculation, all the "we don't know " answers. I just hope to be prepared for MP, HOWEVER it's done.
But to get there I still think he has to dial the Portal glyphs for himself, and you cannot open the way for him from your side.
Should be easy for you to just try it, nothing can go wrong.
Not exactly to the point, but I recenty visited someones base and the teleporter was lit at this place. But that didn´t mean I could use it myself. It was blocked and I could not enter to follow wherever the baseowner might have gone the last time he used it...
As for the galaxy jump "together", I find that thought really interesting. My guess would be that you´re split up somewehere randomly apart, but who knows what can happen? I´d like to know that too, sounds interesting. :)
But however it works out, with the ability to use Portals you should have no problems to come together again.
To check your positions this app might be helpful. Here you can set your own custom destination and see your relative position in the galaxy to it (and more): https://pahefu.github.io/pilgrimstarpath/
Maybe! Lately when I've tried to go to planets that I have actual addresses for I have ended up somewhere other than my target.
