not sure what you mean.
the names you see when picking a destination are the star system names.
or are you saying you can't remember the star system name?
Option 1. BEFORE you teleport form a system, write that systems name in a log book you keep. YES I agree completly, It's a pain in the ass and we shouldn't have to do it, but unless they address this in "NEXT" it is reality. Even if the teleporter eventually moves the system out of the cache you can travel there by ship. hahah unless its one of those that are more than 1,000,000 light years away.
option 2. Do not rename the star system, but name one of the planets a unique name like "I really want to come back" Or "This is a really cool place". Something that you can associate with. That way you can go to the discoveries menu, find your planet name and that way you will have the system name. Then you just select that from the teleporter display.
OOoohh. just thought of option 3. But that requires that you have the "PORTAL" coordinates for the planet you want to go to. You will also need the necessary Glyphs to activate the Portal for the target planet. I don't know how far along you are in the game so I don,t know if you have started collecting the glyphs yet . If not then forget option 3 untill you do. The glyphs and addresses allow you to teleport accross very large distances. Crap, You would have to record the coordinates and the glyphs in the log book too. Forget option 3. It would be a bigger pain than just writing down the system names. Sorry.
I understand your frustration as I went through the same thing. I now only use the teleporter to go back and forth from my base to retreive somethig I require for upgades or repairs.
Is this normal?
I'm curious what led you to believe it was your freighter spawning them ?
It appears they are triggered by 100% species achievement. If you immediately return to your base, it may be delayed long enough to show up there.
1) Upon entering the system the first time, do not board the space station.
2) Land on a planet and make first contact.
3) Make certain that you are connected to discovery service before renaming the system, then do so and upload.
Having done this, when you then make first contact with the space station, the name of it will be the same as the custom name for the system; this will be reflected in the teleport menu, as well.
Hope this helps someone!
This also works after you have already entered a station! However, in that case, you need to go to a planet you have not yet discovered, discover it, and then go back to the station. The name should change when you board the station again (I'm 3/3 so far with this method, but it may not be 100% reliable.)
In today's game with the most recent Worlds Part 1 update, we can now rename systems and planets too. Maybe that makes a difference to space station naming?
I never had a problem with it.
Rename the system and the station gets renamed.
And if not just remember the station name.
Probably just drudging up old posts cause there is nothing creative to say.
