Help finding friend in multiplayer?

I just started a multiplayer game with a friend and have no idea where he is, is there a way for me to locate and rendevous with him?

1. Start a game.
2. Hit Esc and go to 'Network & Voice'.
3. Make appropriate settings changes if necesary.
4. Click on 'Invite Friends'.

When your friend receives the invitation and joins, you will see him on that list. I believe your friend will appear on the space station in the system that you are in. It is probably easier for you to rendezvous with him there.

I did all the first four parts, but he spawned in a different system and i have no idea where this system is or where to find him

The last time I invited a friend into my game, he appeared on the space station, in the same system. I could see his icon moving around, up in the sky, while I was on the planet where my base is. Unfortunately I do not have enough MP experience to help you out when your friend appears in another system.
