that said, my guess is after beyond hello games will start to look at what comes next, but that will likely be a long time out.
though they do have that one little platformer coming, i forget the name, but it's a much smaller project.
In the case of NMS, the story doesn't lend itself to a sequel, given the basic premise of the thing.
I would much rather the developers continue to expand and refine NMS as long as they are inclined to do so, then move on to other creative endeavors. Given the spirit and the discipline they've brought to NMS, through all it's troubles, I'm eager to see what they get up to next.
(The other game from HG due out this year, The Last Campfire, is a small-scale side project, billed as "A Hello Games Short". It's at the top of my wishlist .)
If at some point the additional sales each big update brings is deemed by HG to not be enough, they'll probably start charging. But there's no need to do a sequel.
Im sorry i wasnt aware it was be a jerk day..? Wanna chill
Edit: Ravenholm is much more pleasant.
Hello Games has been updating and expanding the game. Every update brings more content, lore, and things to do/see. And they plan to keep expanding the game.
You should be happy actually. Because this is by all technicality, is a "Live Service" game; just without Microtransactions and Loot Box ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. But I see you're an "EA-Minded" person. Maybe you should go play FIFA, I hear it gets a new game every single year.
Fact on the other hand....
1: Hello Games never gave up and kept working on the game to deliver the promises and then some more. (Unlike many other studios...)
2: Each update has profoundly expanded the game and helped optimize it.
3: The game isn't about just 'beat it", no. It's an Exploration Game... The point is to explore not beat it... That's why you go to a new galaxy if you reset the main galaxy or go to the center.
On the current market, how many other games you know of, especially AAA games, continually update a game and make up for their failures? I can't name many. So based on watching the development, I'll say that Shirrako is an idiot looking to get likes off the haters just like RPS gets likes off the hate for Cyberpunk2077.
