Im having bad frame drops playing in vr, any advice?

No matter what graphics setting i choose frames drop the same in vr. I have an oculus rift s with a 9600k, rx 590, and 16 gb of ram.

It drops and screen tears so bad its unplayable for me in vr, is this a common issue?

Yes it's a common issue, they really need to fix the performance. I can barely run it on my PC, changing the settings doesn't do enough difference unless I'm cranking it all up to Ultra, then it really boggs down.

Strange thing is that it loses frames and stutters even though the CPU load is around 60% (highest loaded core) and the GPU is on about 80% load.

My Spec: 9700K 5Ghz, RTX 2080, 32 GB RAM (2666 MHz) game installed on SATA 3 SSD, OS installed on M.2 NVME SSD.

Stop using VR...? Doesn't seem like there's much else you can do until Hello Games fixes it from their end.

Have you tried running the "experimental" version of the game? To unlock it type 3xperimental in as the beta code in steam (right click on the game name in the list and select properties)

well, great advise. some ppl buy this game only to play it in VR, when that function announced. Now it doesnt work properly.
so let me change your advise about not play in vr - refound.
