Help, Awakenings...
I recently started again and I am on the quest to investigate the damaged machinery on the awakenings quest line right at the start, but I cannot interact with it, it is sticking out the side of a cliff, two wires? what am I missing?

That's too bad. First try to reload a manual save and if this doesn't work you are in bad shape. Next time you will know to make such manual saves more often...

In order to reset an Awakenings quest you would need to travel through a black hole, and reset the mission in the log. To be able to do that, go visit the Space Anomaly, talk with Nada and ask him for a pointer to a black hole. Another problem is: at that stage you need to have full warp and teleporter unlock to be able to return or you would need to reset all quests once on the other side of the black hole.
There is no other solution to unstuck you in-game, the alternative: you would need to use the NMS Save Editor to reset the mission.

I just realize: you don't need to follow Atlas Path, just visit Space Anomaly and talk to Nada.

I'm confused by Japp once again. OP are you going after the terrain manipulator and the damaged machinery that has the blue print in it is stuck have up a cliff and just barely hanging out? I would start the new save over -- being as you don't yet have the terrain manipulator to get you up there -- if I misread you then I'm sorry. There is no way you could go visit Polo and Nada if I'm understanding you correctly.

Nothing to be confused, OP cannot end one of the Awakenings quest because the icon is unreachable, very bad luck. The only solution is the path I describe above (solution in-game; otherwise > Save Editor). Now, Space Anomaly should spawn at some stage so he can go through black hole, reset the mission and continue on the other side.

NO I thought the OP is talking about the Terrain Manipulator Damaged Machinery -- the Anomaly would be a LONG ways off.

Machinery cannot get damaged AFAIK, so that would not be a problem unless the machinery is placed so badly that it cannot be excavated or such, I had this one already, also some buildings may be incastrated in the rock making missions impossible. If you were clever to save manually at every planet location you visit you simply reload your save... I never had problems whatsoever, ofc it's some work to save every time, but as you see: it's necessary...

I just have checked the mission branching. The mission "The Space Anomaly" will only spawn when you are finished with Awakenings and got the blueprints for Antimatter, that's really too bad for you OP, I really hope your manual saves are working so you can replay, or you would need to start over.

Next time make manual saves at each flag...

What are you saying? I don't understand... OPs initial problem is very clear to me, and he didn't speak about a crash site which your pic is showing.
The mission to 'find a signal' on a damaged machinery which OP is speaking about is one of the last missions of Awakenings (before 'The Space Anomaly' and before the start of 'Alone Admist The Stars').

Now, if OP is meaning something else then he hasn't made himself clear about, and I'm not the culprit...I can only give solutions based on his current text.

And "Right at the start"...well, admitted, I see it only now hidden in OPs text...(for such posts I spend only 15 seconds reading them), there is no problem to interact with machinery, players must learn to activate missions correctly, that's all to it, and it's in the game guide also I think. Maybe I should have said that, but it's so obvious that I left it out. Also at that stage OP could easily restart game instead of posting...
