Can't Build A New Base and Lost Old Base
I have already built two bases in the game - no problem. Then while exploring I came across one of the old pre-placed base computers - the ones that state "Base available to build" so I activated the computer and built a rudimentary base, expecting to finish. But since then I no longer have a base computer in my build list. I figured that maybe if I delete the old pre-placed computer the ability might come back, but I cannot find that base.

I had portalled to that planet have since lost the portal address. Is there any way in the game to see where I have bases? Galaxy map, Discoveries, anything? I thought that I had gone up to the space station, but there is no indication of that base in the teleporter list.

Any ideas?

You have to go back via the portal to used. You won't be able to build a base in your current situation. If you go to a station it will not let you teleport. You need to find the portal- it should be a nice purple icon if you did not leave the system.

If you did leave the system, you need to retrace your steps back to the system where you came out of the portal.

I know the system where I came out of the portal. But I used that portal for maybe a dozen jumps to other planets.

So is the consensus that I can either continue without the ability to build a base or restart? Are those the only two options at this point? Seems a pretty big flaw to have nowhere that shows your bases.

AFAIK, Every time you enter a MP session you are using a portal that you must first return through before you can continue playing in SP mode.

I did go through and come back. Each time I went through I also went to the local Space Station, thinking that it would add it to my teleporter list (it apparently did not), and then came back through the same portal. Then I entered the next series of glyphs and repeated the process. I had intended to add a teleporter to the base but forgot, but didn't think it was a big deal since I had gone to the Space Station.

You can't build on the other side of a portal. If you find a wild base computer on the other side of a portal you may be able to interact with it, but the game mechanic is that you won't be able to call up a new base computer on the other side. You have to warp there. You are lucky to have found a base computer, for sure, but base building on the other side of a portal has been nerfed for months

At this point, it is probably going to be easier to use the save game editor to just remove the flag telling the game you used a portal.

I've never used the Save Editor. Is that an easy change to make?

Some mix ups here I think.

1. If you go through a portal you can't place a base computer anywhere, it won't be available on your build list until you return back through the same portal. Round trip.

1a. When you portal travel, stations and bases you encounter will not be added to your teleport list.

2. If you find a wild base computer while on the other side of a portal (before round trip), you can build a base and upload it, but that base will never be on your teleport list. The only way to see that base again is to travel there by portal.

3. If your current situation doesn't show a base computer on your build list, then you are still on the other side of a portal trip and have not completed the round trip.

4. The Save Editor will let you bypass a lot of game mechanics but I would hold off on using it until you are much farther along in the game.

I can't create a new base, and I can't get back to that base as I no longer have the portal address. I went through the portal, flew up to the Space Station to see if there was a Traveller, then flew back down to the portal. On the way I saw the pre-set base computer, so made a quick base then came back through the portal. Days later I discovered that I could no longer build a base. If I can't fix it I will have to restart, and since I have completed the Atlas story, I would very much like to keep all my stuff. I am open to anything that will get me back to the ability to build bases. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Is there a glowing portal icon on your HUD? If so you need to return through that portal.
Ron Jul 19, 2019 @ 4:02pm
No, there is no glowing portal icon on my HUD. I also went to every single system in my teleporter (since I also went to the space station there) and looked for a base, and there was nothing in any of them.

When you go out in space, do you have access to the map?
Ron Jul 19, 2019 @ 4:17pm
The galactic map? Yes, and I have looked intensively though it to see if a base icon was shown and there was nothing.
Gatun Jul 19, 2019 @ 4:19pm
I asked because if you haven't completed a portal round trip you can't access the galactic map either.

So just to clarify, the base computer icon is not on your build list?
