Big thing is most people here dont know what drivers are and are claiming their gpu isn't supported when all they need to do is download an update from nvidia.

As I said, the compatibility chart on that very page confirms that they support pretty much any GPU made in the last 9 years, so it's likely a driver issue.

The compatibility chart in the Vulkan Wiki entry specifically mentions that 68xx Radeons are compatible, he's probably just using an old driver.

Nope... look at it again. THe box to the right says, Software support: Vulkan 1.0 "not supported"

Seriously don't you read the gaming news. NVIDIA has stopped the support of the 400 series GPU back in January 2019. Which means that the 400 series GPU no longer receives game optimised drivers. They get only security updates. Which also means that you don't have the Vulkan compatibilty module from NVIDIA. So don't blame steam or NMS for not supporting your GPU.

and so . I bought this game before it changed the engine to one that the vulkan driver requires. The card in my Laptop does not support vulkan drives, and I do not intend to change my laptop to a newer one at the moment, since game manufacturers change the engine to one that prevents using the program on their current computer (laptop, PC) should return the amount for which the software was purchased, producers games should not force owners of their software to change computers to newer, the software should be adapted to newer and older computers. On the purchase page of the game, the requirements do not say that the game requires a Vulkan driver

Not my problem since i have top-tier rig... but... it is in fact wrong information on NMS store page, for anyone still using a "min-spec" nvidia GPU "gtx 480"

So, the only reason i am posting this PSA. is for the benifit of anyone that likes to tinker with super-old hardware and game, that might want to try NMS.

But a "tinker'er" would know this already... it's for folks that cannot upgrade (for one reason or another) like the poor dude on another thread that bought the game a week ago with his 6850, now game is a no-go with Vulkan.

You would have to read the EULA for that to become a reasonable request if you have owned and played the game for a long time.

But, Hello Games has been talking about "the Vulkan Upgrade" for a long time now.

Laptops are never really a good gamer platform. If they even run modern games at all acceptably, they allow for very few and limited hardware upgrades. I think that is by design, somewhat, "planned obsolescence" ... i dont think Hello Games should be responsible for that.

Why not say... "My laptop Maker made it so i cannot run Vulkan API [software] that prevents using the program on their current computer (laptop, PC) should return the amount for which the [hardware] was purchased" ... amiright?
