Nice one! It floored me when it worked (and still is), especially after trying literally everything to resolve the issue. In the early days, I had some brief success with another solution, but it was at the mercy of the latest patch.
Have you tried opening the TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML again and looking for the lines:
<Property name="NumHighThreads" value="?"
<Property name="NumLowThreads" value="?"
The value will be set by the game and vary. Basically, it's a reflection of how many cores the game accesses. I was advised with a 6 core, for example, it helps sputtering if the "Low" is set to "0" and the "High" set to "6" should help reduce this. There are other combinations you can use effectively, with a 6 core, but ALL have "Low" set to "0".
Have you tried both "3xperimental" and without? Experimental is accessed through properties. Select the "Beta" tab, then enter 3xperimental in the beta code. You should be able to switch between experimental and none in the drop down list above. It's a noob solution people sometimes overlook and could help. Hope it does.
Did you try my solution and change "FullScreen" to false and "Borderless" to true? You can edit without starting the game. It's in your TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML file if you open it in Notepad. If it doesn't work, you can easily edit the TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML again so FullScreen is true and Borderless is false. Can't hurt if you haven't tried it.
Since I have played the game from day 1, I've always had it set to play with FullScreen. This is why it was literally the last thing I considered would fix my issues. Floored me when it worked.
SpecialK is a rather popular Mod for a variaty of steam games (for me it was Nier:Automata). The installer is SKIM64. I launched SKIM64 and uninstalled the global SpecialK injector.
Lucky you, whoever finds this answer and can fix the issue like I did...
This worked for me. The filename has changed though. It's in TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML now. Just set the resolution setting to your monitor's setting and restart.
What you also can do :
type services.msc in RUN
Stop "Windows Audio"
Boot NMS
Start "Windows Audio"
Thanks! Tried that but when audio starts, the games CTD's. I have gotten used to playing games without sound most of the time anyway lol
Copy the text into notepad, save it as a .bat file, run.
If this doesn't work because your game takes a bit longer to launch, change the 15 to a 30.
MSVCP120.dll - https://www.dll-files.com/msvcp120.dll.html
MSVCPR120.dll - https://www.dll-files.com/msvcr120.dll.html
after moving these newly downloaded files to system32, game started correctly and no errors were given. Any other fix didn't work for me.
