Switch was a wire that was letting me plug into things I don't understand.
I assume I don't have any switches researched. Where am I supposed to learn large structure parts now ? On the construction research unit there is only basic components like wooden, metal and concerete floors doors the ones you put one by one.
Apparently you power the door, it closes, then you have to put a switch to basically cut the power off to open the door. So your door is probably not powered. You have to plug in a wire directly to the door. It doesn't matter if it is connected to a structure that is powered.
The Construction Research machine only has the basics, you're correct.
Outside the basic generator, solar panels and wiring, you'll have to visit the anomaly for switches and most of the other new things Beyond brings, along with the large prefab parts since Beyond replaces the old base building questline.

This whole power system needs some refinement for the idea is actually excellent, starting from wiring positions that imho should be stuck to pre defined snaping angles to make it more aesthetically pleasant. It looks so ugly right now. The only alternative atm is to dig a small patch on the ground and put all wires there and cover with terrain manipulator again to hide the ugly mess.
Guess I will just use large structures to power my tech and holo doors :) no wire problem.
