Some anti-v's are reading one of the files from steam as a false positive and not downloading it., even though it says download finished
Turn off your anti-v temporarily (its ok if your firewall is on) and try to re-verify your game files. You might have to turn it off as well when first loading. Most anti-v's sort themselves out once you have a successful load up.
EDIT: Did the whole upgrade, "fixes" route, too. Nothing works.
1. delete all installed mods - they don't work and will break the Game
2. delete all Files in the Shadercache Folder under No Man's Sky install Dir\GAMEDATA\
3. try again
I've done what you said,reinstall the game,no mods,still the same problem,thx anyway.
You're preaching to the choir.
My only choices left are sacrificing a goat. Failing that, a virgin. To be honest, I don't want to resort to sacrificing a virgin.
Again.
That is the exact same issue I am having. There is no fix for it.
Here is a video I made, and sent to HG via their bug report forum.

hmmm i wanted to try this one but ,on my pc this folder is empty (i just purchase the game, never played it before),also i see another "tip" but it must be done in the settings menu...that i have not because i can only select play a game or go to desktop..
You and I share the same processor line, perhaps they removed emulation for older processors and that's why it's crashing at load/start a game... I am having the exact same issue as you. I've tried all the suggestions including enrolling in the beta branch,
With any luck they didn't tick a box on compiling for emulation of processors missing newer instruction sets. (Allows older processors to run games with poorer performance while doing so but at least they play.)
This isn't the first time Phenom II's weren't able to run this game, a few years ago they enabled support for them I believe. So we'll have to wait it out, brother.
If you recall, they previously dropped anything above SSE2 even though Phenom 2 supports up to SSE3, SSE4A, but not SSE 4.0 and SSE 4.1 4.2
Starting with Barcelona-based processors, AMD introduced the SSE4a instruction set, which has 4 SSE4 instructions and 4 new SSE instructions. These instructions are not found in Intel's processors supporting SSE4.1 and AMD processors only started supporting Intel's SSE4.1 and SSE4.2 (the full SSE4 instruction set) in the Bulldozer-based FX processors.
