do you use F-Secure ? if so turn off deep guard before launching the game
DISCLAIMER!!!! (READ ME):
DO NOT DO THIS (unless you know what and why you're doing it), it is incredibly risky to turn off Antivirus and firewall to get a game running, instead contact support for your security product vendors or the game company.
...that said...
1. Install the most recent C++ redist from Microsoft.com https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/
2. Do not run this game as administrator
3. If you get application load error 3, its likely that one of your security products, such as antivirus is blocking the program from running. Consider excluding the NMS.exe file from the AV's control
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\No Man's Sky\Binaries\NMS.exe)
Let me say this again, it is flat out wrong to whitelist a game on your security controls, dont do it.
i blacklist every game in my antivirus.
never a problem
Do not turn off AV & firewall.
There is an option to whitelist an executable if you suspect its false positive but do not turn off your sec controls completely.
How good can the game be if NONE of my other games have this problem.
Hitting refund button.
