Because ♥♥♥♥ like Epic Games launcher is bad, their practice is bad, and they get caught doing stuff much worse than steam and they've only been using the EGS for a little while.

plus installing another platform to get your games from is annoying and spreads them out and fragments the collection.

I sadly have wayyyyy to many games on steam to want to switch anymore. But I do agree with you. Keep in mind GOG players can't play with Steam and majority of PC is on steam so the monopoly in a sense keeps on going :(

I think GOG is great it's sadly just not for the more online portion of things.

I think the exception here is say GOG without the DRM. Of course online gameplay is always an issue.
