You'll find it occasionally as a secondary element in plants. You'll also sometimes find it among the plunder from a storage depot.

The most reliable way to gather it is with an atmosphere harvester (unlocked by following your base scientists' missions) and setting one up on a frozen or a radioactive planet.

When I've wanted to go into full production mode, crafting the high-end items that sell for millions of units, I just make sure to have a bases on planets that yield the various gases - hot or toxic planet (I think) for sulphurine (if I have that right), temperate or desert planet for nitrogen (I think).

Well, you need to be sure you can find it again. If I set one up on a planet I'm just visiting for a while, I'll drop a beacon next to it so I don't lose it.

You need to collect the radon yourself by visiting and "activating" the harvester ('E' on keyboard), then transferring it to your inventory.

That's why I usually set up at least a small base, with a harvester or two or three next to it. I charge them up and set them running, then teleport off elsewhere to do other things.

I believe the harvesters work in real time, as do plants. I haven't tested this, but that would mean you could even save, log out of the game, go do stuff in the real world, then come back to gather in the gases.

Oh, I should emphasize: you do need to provide them with a source of power, some variant of carbon.

good to know. i was just asking you about where to put it. I am used to auto miners and putting them on ore but have never used auto atmosphere units. you have helped alot. thx. now to find the right kind of planet.

bonus: one gas convert to another in the refiner. I can't remember if you need to add oxygen or not, but they're in a cycle.
Radon is a secondary element on much of the fauna and rock on my curren planet.

Radon also can be found in Mutant plants that wobble and roll about then explode on some planets.

Radon can be found sometimes at Depots. Destroy the silos.

You can harvest another gas and convert it to radon - very slowly. Find the appropriate biome that you can harvest radon and let the auto harvester do the work while you are out playing.

You can buy radon from NPCs landing at Trading Posts on planets. Jutst click on several ships and you might get lucky or find a quantity of gas you can convert.

I always set up 3 atmosphere harvesters and a beacon on planets nearby. A small cluster of the 4 items. One cluster per planet. Refill them several times a day. Kind of a grind but it works.
