I put together a short video guide since a few folks have asked about it.

Very nice explanation. I am trying to get back to a base location in Eissentam from a normal save in my current Eissentam survival save. Made it to the planet but was a bit perplexed on how to find the exact location using the planet nav notation. This will make it easy!

I already know the "normal" base won't be there, but I think it would be cool to have similar bases in the same location in both modes.

Thanks

You are very welcome my friend.

Thanks for the tutorial. The coordinate system was actually used in multiplayer missions this spring, so MIGHT be a multiplayer skill you need for Beyond. I now write down coordinates for stuff I want to return to unless I drop a beacon. I marked the coordinates for a string of gravesites to get portal glyphs in the thread

for playing without ever building a base.

Update: The coordinate help worked like a charm and found the location. Turns out it was a base computer in the wild, so just had to set up a replicate base in Survival mode. It won't be exactly the same but exact location for both...very cool.

It's weird that +0.00, +0.00 is on the equator.

I did add it in the guides section, but since it's new it's not going to show up unless you click "most recent". But it is there :)

It comes up every day. How do I find that so and so again? Beacon, Base or screenshot and use coordinates.

Not sure why this is weird. On your planet Earth +0.00, +0.00 is where the Prime Meridian crosses the Equator. Like Earth the North Pole is +90 degrees. In the southern hemisphere we usually just say " x degrees south", but in NMS a negative number is used. Also on Earth we speak of "x degrees east" or "x degrees west". NMS uses positive for east and negative for west.

The OP said something about the numbers might be minutes or something. Not sure. In any case the numbers are decimal degrees.

Try flying over the north or south pole and watch the HUD compass spin from N to S or S to N depending on which one you are going over.

Overall, a good and useful video. When I first was sorting this out it was confusing to me.
