Whats the point of other galaxies?
Could someone help me understand why I would want to travel to another galaxy? Is there anything in other galaxies that is different than the first? Like different planets or combinations of things?

To me it seems like starting a whole new minecraft world, which doesn't really give you anything new because the world is procederal anyways. So you could just keep explore one minecraft world and never need to make a second one.

So why would i move on beyond first galaxy?

UPDATE ANSWER:
Final verdict is that different galaxies just have different probabilities for types of planets appearing. So if you want a specific kind of planet more regularly, go to that type of galaxy. For example, if you want to go to more Lush planets, go to the Lush Galaxy. See Galaxy types and probabilities at link below.

You could start at the galactic hub, do one warp in any direction and have a 99% chance nobody will ever stumble onto your system. in fact could easily guarantee every single permutation of plants, animals and planets are also abundant within that same warp distance.

Every galaxy has another kind of "seed" for creating planets. Eisentam has more lush planets then others for example. And the lush planets in Eisentam dont have aggresive sentinels in Survival mode.

People say this, but nobody actually has anything to back it up other than a little bit of story fluff.

To demonstrate why that's not a good thing to take at face value, look at the atlas path. Without spoiling it, it says it does something when obviously it doesn't.

All galaxies are basically the same. given the limits of what the procedural generation can do, it would be pretty much impossible for the galaxies to have different planets. They will be in different locations, but essentially it's still all the same. Just like warping 4k LY away from your current location, all the planets are still mostly the same.

The other thing of course is once you leave the first galaxy, you can no longer use gates to visit other destinations in Euclid and the majority of players don't seem to have ever left the first system (at at least the ones who share portal co-ords).
Just go check the 15th galaxy (Ogtialabi), extreme on most planet

We dont know, we will never know. Those who went further, never came back. There is noone to tell us how is it out there...

wise words my friend, wise words
I am in the 15th galaxy, so that means that there is no way back for me
You leave a base in the galaxy you want to go back to and use any teleporter to do so.

It's not, unless your playing on survival but then most planets are extreme in all galaxies in that case. Try not to get galaxies confused with difficulty/game settings.

I am playing (normal) the 15th one is the most extreme galaxy of all
The linked biome probabilities are out of date. Here's an updated table:

Thanks for the update! I've updated the original post. Is the other link I posted up to date?

Yeah, the galaxy list is correct, though I have doubts about #257 :)
Resons why I changed galaxy were:
- Because I could
- Because I wanted to start a base network fresh and use the galaxy name as some sort of tab to sort out old bases from new ones.
- Because I wanted to break the photon gun on a starship
- because I wanted to break the mining laser on a multi-tool.
- Because I didnt like the type of the galaxy I was in.
- Because I didnt like the name of the galaxy I was in.
- To get access to a galaxy where I got the coordinate of something interesting from the coordinate exchange (MT, starship, etc...)

There is absolutely no reason to go to another galaxy, The missions are the exact same. Planets may vary a little, but nothing worth mentioning. You won't find resources that are indigenous to that galaxy, They all have everything. Also you can portal to and from any galaxy that you have been to previously. I tend to build one base at the center of each galaxy, Just so i know which ones they are. What NMS needs is a quest chain that leads you to new galaxies, To obtain something that's very hard to get. And more races. Three races ruling every galaxy is boring and rediculous. I would like to run into solar systems that are controlled by robots, Or creatures that live in deep space. Or just anything to liven it up, And give me a reason to want to play the game. As it is now, I'm at max money. I've been everywhere important, And done everything worthwhile in the game. Expedition mode only took about a week to complete everything. That's without cheating. So i'm playing other games till the next season starts, But I don't think many people will be excited about it. Because we've already done it once.

Like real astronomical science, we can well stay inside our tiny bubble (solar system) give zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about milky way, Promixa Centauri B, other galaxies

but human nature driven us to want to explore further, even in this game.
