For clarity your comments are quoted in italics. There is a lot to your review that many, many players will disagree with:
Cons:
- Space battles are terrible; You control it with your mouse and it feels so jerky. You're going to spend a good amount of time trying to learn to properly control your ship.
They are not terrible and work extremely well with a mouse and are intensely challenging in modes like Survival and Permadeath. On a PC the mouse is actually more accurate for targetting and turning. A PS4 type controller can also be fun for a relaxed flying experience.
- Spaceships look the same....
No they do not. Class types are different. Haulers, Explorers, Exotics, Fighters look nothing alike. Within those classes you may find similar looking ships, but they are still very distingushable with visual characteristics between one another.

- Spaceships have no cosmetic system ... is entirely luck based.
The game is not designed to be a glue-kit game. One challenge is to visit the correct systems and biomes to increase odds of finding the style of ship you want. This is quite easy to do with plenty of glue-kit upgrades you collect as you play the game. It becomes very easy later in the game once you have most upgrades.
- No way of transferring modifications to your ship to a new one, so if you put an S-Class upgrade on your ship, you have to leave it on that ship and get it again. After 18 hours of gameplay I had only about 2000 nanite crystals, and each S-Class upgrade costs about 400 each.
You do not need to transfer upgrades. You can destroy them for resources to easily rebuild new tech. Nanites are easy to come buy and extremely lucrative if you increase the ranks of your Mission NPC. Visiting POLO with discovery data will drop upgrades you can sell for nanites. Nanites are plentiful from scanning and so many other methods, even refining. You can speed through rankings by repeat feeding them resources you can purchase in bulk or find in crates at Trade Posts. Install an economy scanner to find TPs efficiently.
- Boring storyline...
The storyline is not boring but doesn't have the first person drama of a dedicated first person story led AAA title to make revisiting the story worthwhile. The No Man's Sky ARG from 2018 was arguably more interesting and interactive. For repeat play you can click through the story U.I. texts.
- Language system is convoluted. You have to go find knowledge stones, trade a certain resource to learn one word (eg. 10 copper for a word), or find ancient ruins. Only issue with that is that there is 2368 words in the entire game...
There are faster ways to learing the languages. By visiting the Atlas Anomaly you can 'speed' learn words as you progress through the storyline. You can stand in front of a NPC and with the right resource (You can buy lots at some trade stations) just repeat feed the NPC to reveal words.
- Frigate system is stupid; You can send ships out to expeditions to earn stuff which seems cool enough, but the only issue is that there's a 90% chance of those ships getting injured halfway through, meaning you need to end it prematurely,...
Frigates rarely get damaged if you send them out with more star value than the mission requires. Collect resources to craft the bonus items needed to balance missions. If you collect the game recipes from playing generally then you will be able to craft high value items from the loot brought back from fleet missions.
The fleet missions bring back millions of units. More than enough to purchase new frigates. You do not need to buy S class frigates as all frigates with experience increase their statistics. Some S Classes have poorer stats thab C-Class. Over time the cheaper C-Class are superior.
- Planets. Are. The. Exact. Same. After your third solar system you'll notice that the variety of animals is lacking, and every planet just looks like a copy from one you've seen before.

Planet biomes do have flaws but with enough exploration some unique planets and especially the 'last' rare animal discovery can be rewarding to find. There are billions upon billions to choose from and even other galaxies. All types of colour stars potentially have rewarding planets to find and build on.
- Player Cosmetic System, while extensive, relies on these weekly community events that haven't been happening for the past six months or so, meaning you're stuck with the cosmetics you have from the start and that's it.
Community Events were never meant to be an on going thing and quicksliver or some alternative will almost certainly return when the next update arrives. You will then be able to get any cosmetics that are available. If you can not wait there are plenty of other cosmetic items scattered among anomaly planets to find and you could even deaperately use a MOD to achieve what you want.
- TRIPLE A PRICE? You want me to pay $84.95 AU for your game? ...but isn't even really close to FINISHED? Seriously?..
This game's not worth the price they've given it, nor is the game worth half price...
The game has been on sale several times. The AAA price reflects the alternative business model adopted for the game from a smaller independent publisher which is very happy to provide 'free' updates from the upfront sale. This way you get a game the developers want you to play and why you bought it from them. Inlike a large developer led by micro-sales not interested in their art.
That doesn't stop the game being fun as key NPC's we have to interact with do have animations, besides they are to have more animation in the next update, 'Beyond'. Animation is memory hungry and players forget much of No Man's Sky is procedurally generated on the fly.
idk bro
im fine with working around a couple pimples
but this is like an entire forest of pimples
That being said, lets mention only one "pro" that this game has that not many do. Good updates.
Updates community want and suggest, and surprises. Most updates, what ever you throw in them, can only improve the game. And not many can ruin it. Seems like they are doing good job by far with it.
And not to mention other games out there, companies, that dont give a damn about you, what you like, want and would enjoy. All they enjoy is selling hats and throwing in some random updates that community didnt even ask for, but completely avoid fixing the broken things.
You spend tons of money on them, just to get same hats every year, no improvements in game it self. Thats sad.
All i want to say is, these guys deserve more than you think.
After all that, you might not like it because of something so you found some "flaws" that seem bad to you. If you are FPS type of player, then this is not a game for you. No matter what they do to the game of this genre, it will always be bad for you. Not attacking you, just giving my opinion.
If you are this type of a player, give it a shot and i really hope you get some luck to see your current opinion change. Wish you luck mate.
Another useless rank, based on nuthin'. Try some facts before you start flappin' yur lips.
Yeah, no attention"? It is ranked #92 at this moment on SteamCharts. And that is out of 30,000+ games. You have no idea how wrong you are. Come back when you can talk facts.

"After about 22 hours of gameplay"
You are so right +Fluffy. Buried in his wall o' text, he claims 22 hours.
And he is sooo wrong about so many things ... his list of Cons reads like a list of stupid ... errr, I mean inexperience. ...
Pros.
Nothing.
Cons.
Everything.
Overall this review is not worth me typing anymore.
I'm completely fine with giving it pros but it's in no way a game I'd ever recommend.
You're either ignoring the constant similarities between each planet or have the attention span of a fly.
Apparently he did not get the point as he continues to post his ignorance.
I wouldn't call my comment an insult ....
ah, you must be a millennial ... that explains everything.
i can tell you have a high iq
