Useful for spaceships. Hypercores fill the warp drive entirely, compared to standard warp cells..
IIRC, warp cells fill the entire hyperdrive as does the warp hypercore.
I'll double check on the warp cell when I get home but pretty sure that's how it's been
Edit: Multiple different answers on this thread already and it just shows how much misinformation is out there.
However a single warp cell does fill the hyperdrive of a freighter. Again talking about my own experience.
Playing through a new save, and not seeing any reason why we would need mass quantities of warp juice. Maybe they have some future plans that will make that feature more relevant?
Or could just be they are dumbing everything down so it is almost impossible to not be successful. A lot of the Beyond update seems aimed at taking away challenges for the casual gamer.
We might never know...
I don't know what resources you need to input into the anti-matter maker, but do you think the machine is worth it...versus doing it manually? What's the production effeciency of the machine vs manual labor?
I'll bet its not fast but look at it this way, when you go back to your base you'll always have some antimatter waiting for you.

So instead of needing 250 Chromatic Metall and 200 Condensed Carbon you only need 50 Condensed Carbon.
Ok but are you playin on normal or survival? That could be the difference
Ate you playing on normal or survival tho?
It doesn't matter. The antimatter reactor does use and produce the same amount of things. It's a game mechanic, not a save game mechanic.
