Is there a way to get emeril without going to a green system?

By expeditions with your frigates. There's a random chance you will gain emeril. Other than that? Visiting green systems. Either by warping or doing quests in the nexus which can warp you for free in such systems. But this is random, too.

do frigates give regular emeril or activated emeril? can't bypass story missions by awarding activated emeril. can't use it to make emeril from c.metal either

Keep in mind that if you find as little as 1 piece of emeril, you can refine it along with chromatic metal and get 4x the amount of emeril you started with. Repeat as needed for as much as you need.

Both. Same goes for copper, cadmium, indium, etc. It's truly random.

just do expeditions on freighter, you will get emeril soon. a lot of it. wehn you get it, keep some metal samples to make it more in refiner as you need.

Yes, there is a bug right now where you only have to have the warp drive under construction on your ship to use it. So as long as you have the other components for the drive and put those it you don't need the Indium, emeril, or cadmium to use them.

your freighter's hyperdrive can get you to any-color star system.

trivia: you need a 2 or 3 slot refiner and a handfull units of any metal that refines to chromatic metal to make unlimited quantity of it. refine a litle of it (but not all!) to chromatic metal then mix it together to multiply the metal. repeat until satisfied :)

does not work with activated variety :(

if MP wasn't so broken i would suggest trading some with a friend ... i know i keep stores of all 3 resources used for building engines ...

you will probably get the resources from frigate missions before MP is fixed and safe to use again though ..
