No Picture on Steam Link, Black screen with sound.
Like the title says, I open my steam link, select NMS, game fires up, but there is no picture on the TV, only sound. The game is running when viewing the PC, and everything is working, just no picture on the TV.

Hi there, I got the game a few weeks ago and I was so happy to try laying on my bed and... guess what!? Black screen ;)

I tried the above solutions (lowering the resolution, borderless window, changing the priority of the process etc) but nothing worked. I can see for a second the picture of the game if I switch to another window with alt+tab.

I'm playing in 4k with a 1080TI, enough ram and so on. That's pretty annoying
EDIT: I'm using an ipad 9.7 2018, other games work as expected

Bump, and possible solution for others, since it worked for me - - - Some threads have mentioned not running screen overlay software like MSI Afterburner or Riva Statistics Tuner. I found that I had to uninstall both of those, and then NMS worked perfectly over Steam Link. It was my only Steam game with this error. Good luck.

This fixed it for me! Thank you!
I closed all applications that have an overlay (discord, nvidia ge) and now it works flawlessly

Neither Program has ever been installed on the system with this issue.

I know this is old but I was experiencing a similar problem and wanted to share how I fixed it.

First, I set my settings to Bordered instead of borderless or fullscreen. However, that wasn't enough to fix it on its own. That gets an image on the steam link, but it's practically frozen.

The next step is to get into task manager and set the priority of No Man's Sky to below normal. For that, you open task manager, go to the "Details" tab, find NMS.exe, right click on it, click "Set Priority" and finally set it to "Below Normal".

It seems to be working fine for me so far. Hope this helps at least one other person!

Thanks for this. I will be trying this on my stream link again soon, especially with the new Outlaws update, 😀

I'm having this issue. The host computer is using the "Steam-Headless" docker container, and is running on an AMD graphics card. Playing games from local clients works great, but connecting remotely gives the 'sound but black screen' issue. I tried enabling the "Change desktop resolution to match streaming client" thing and the "Prioritize network traffic" thing, but no change. Please help!

I have a similar problem. I works find for most things, but with streaming services like Disney Plus and Binge, the sound gets to the tv but the screen is black. YouTube works just fine.

Okay I got it to work.
1 Go to Settings in BPM
2 Remote Play
3 Advanced Host Options
4 Check: change desktop resolution to match streaming client, use NVFBC capture, prioritize network traffic

I didn't check if one of these individually is the answer this is just what I did and it worked.

I can confirm that this worked for me.

I know this is an old thread but its still relevant today.

Try Moonlight/Sunshine streaming host and client. Disable Steam in home streaming and Nvidia gamestream.

I have same issue from today (i have played days before with streaming without issues) streaming to steamdeck, black screen on steamdeck.
If i press windows key on host, nms is minimized and i can see desktop on steam deck, if i press nms icon on taskbar to bring in front, again black screen.
This only happens with NMS, i can stream without problems all other games.
