Hello everyone,

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who has already spent time playing BEYOND and letting us know about any issues you’ve experienced. It’s overwhelming to watch thousands of players begin or continue their journey across the universe.

Steam users are able to opt-in to the Experimental Branch, where we have pushed a rapid patch to fix a number of crashes and other problems seen since release. We’ll be rolling out these fixes to other platforms as soon as possible.

To play in Experimental, right-click on No Man’s Sky from the Steam library page and select “Properties”. Among the available tabs will be the “BETAS” tab. Enter “3xperimental” in the textbox and press “CHECK CODE”, then select it from the dropdown menu.

The patch notes are as follows:

Experimental Branch 22/08
  • Adjusted base part data to improve performance in large bases
  • Made player-buildable sofas sittable
  • Fixed an issue that caused dismissing notification boxes to also perform in-game actions like firing grenades
  • Fixed a number of issues that prevented hydroponic trays from working with base power
  • Fixed an issue where pressure switches were not available in Creative Mode
  • Fixed Health, Power and Shield stations not receiving power aboard freighters
  • Fixed an issue that caused Batteries and Solar Panels not to attach correctly to building roofs
  • Fixed an issue that caused animals not to drop mordite when killed
  • Fixed an issue that prevent mordite being placed in the Nutrient Processor
  • Improved handling of the camera in tight spaces
  • Fixed a number of very specific mission and dialog flow problems in multiplayer

  • Adjusted the VR UI for the Fleet Terminal
  • Updated the icon for the Noise Box
  • Tweaked the UI for the Agricultural Robot
  • Fixed an issue causing text clipping in notification boxes
  • Fixed an issue that prevented rewards from being seen when handing in Mission Board missions, and instead held the game on a screen with no UI
  • Adjusted the speed of the scrolling text to make it more readable
  • Fixed an issue that caused tips about the Crystal Fragments to appear for players who had no Crystal Fragments

  • Fixed a number of LODding issues on specific plants
  • Fixed a number of collision issues on the Space Anomaly
  • Fixed an issue that could cause exotic ships to hide their wings when retracting landing gear
  • Fixed an issue that caused ship cameras to intersect with the freighter hanger
  • Fixed an issue that caused trade terminals on freighters to intersect the floor (fix will apply to new terminals, old terminals will need to be repositioned manually)
  • Fixed a number of graphical issues aboard the freighter
  • Made a series of small geometry optimisations to the interior of the Space Anomaly

  • Fixed a softlock in a specific interaction in planetary factories
  • Fixed a crash that affected large bases
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when the game is shutting down
  • Fixed a crash in Sentinel Quad navigation
  • Fixed an issue that could cause black squares to appear when damage numbers were turned off
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if an NPC tried to walk to an invalid location
  • Fixed a rare crash in video card initialisation
  • Fixed a rare crash in memory allocation
  • Internal improvements to crash reporting

As always, thank you to all players who use Experimental and take the time to report any issues you encounter.

Please note there is the possibility that experimental builds may introduce new issues that haven't been caught in test. We'd like to recommend that all players back up their save files, by making a local copy of the st_[userid] folder found here: %appdata%\HelloGames\NMS\

Note that we don't anticipate any issues here. However, performing your own backups could mean the difference between resuming play immediately, or waiting for the next patch.

If you decide to opt out of experimental and return to the main branch, we strongly recommend resuming from a backed-up save from the main branch, rather than taking an experimental branch save back to main, which may cause unexpected behaviour.

Feedback and reports of new bugs/issues being found on Experimental are welcome, so please reply to this thread or submit a ticket to https://hellogames.zendesk.com/ with the phrase "Steam Experimental" in the ticket title. If you are running any mods for the game, please list them along with your bug report.

Thank you so much! I'm really happy your getting into the Bug fixing. Hopefully a few of my issues can be looked at overtime and their on bug reports too but we both know there is 1000's of reports a day and might be missed.


Not Sure If you Will see this but Please Consider:

Bugs
- Upload All Discoveries - Does not work at all the button is redundant.
- Industrial Extractor. Some Materials like Magnetized Ferrite can't be extracted I have heard of gold as well. It will just show 0/0 in the extractor when powered it's material based and not random so maybe wrong ID's?
- Storage Depot - They pretend to be Batteries. They show electricity missing icons always and they also show Power Stored when hovering over this. I assume at one point they were for power storage then removed? Needs to be looked at.


[QoL]
- Faster Dialog - Missions, Talking to NPC's, ETC is just too slow. Try handing in 20 missions and you will have an update by the end of the day :)
- Supply Depots - Storage is way too small.
- Cargo Containers - Time to buff these to 48 Slots or make a new storage system. 5 Slots for Base Storage when were walking banks is a bit old and a big joke in my books plus now require power for 5 slots lol.

I tweeted a screenshot of the issue to you. I returned to my 56 hour character for beyond i had been saving to find some of my bases underground... LoL also unpowered so good thing i have a terraformer <3 also my frigate still loses alot of itself when i build rooms onto it :)

Looking forward to checking these LOD fixes. Though with no mention of rendering resolution and specific mention of 'certain plants' only ,, i wont be holding my breath.

I have bug reports from years ago still existing. I am trying new methods :)

What texture quality should I use with a GTX 970 4GB. According to a screenshot on https://www.nomanssky.com/beyond-update, "Enhanced" is recommended for 4 GB of VRAM. This one: https://nmswp.azureedge.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/beyond-pc-graphics-2.jpg, I tried "Ultra" without any glitches.

Dont know what u done specifically but it did nothing to fix the primary main LOD issue in game.
Pop in of objects such as plants still occurs, same with grass, and textures.

in addition the low resolution rendering is STILL present.
See the following pictures for examples. Note the rendering resolution of the horizon, aswell as the objects such as trees and plants. This is also present on any object like flag poles and ships at any distance more than right in front of the characters face.

This is present on ALL videos found online, both streams and youtube. Some are somewhat hidden by the craptastic TAA/FXAA, buts its there, those that use TAA/FXAA have to deal with the horrible blur mess that results. Those that turn of AA deal with images above.
