How do you mine asteroids?

Title. I tried looking and nothing. Cant find any tips ingame either

For Silver and Gold, you can always find planets that feature those as surface deposits (like Copper) if you don't like the idea of shooting asteroids.

Tritium is common enough you can get thousands in just 5-10 minutes or sommat. Platinum is always going to be slow, but here's the thing. You can refine platinum with a 2 or better slot refiner using Silver+Gold which is probably the easiest way of getting it.

Also, those cheaper special minerals like Herox, Lemmium, Dirty Bronze, etc (not the expensive stuff like Geodesite), you can throw those into a refiner to get hundreds of gold/silver and once you start doing stuff like Frigate Missions, you get a ton of those (also commonly found in Buried Mineral Deposits that come up on your scanner while you walk around on a planet). You can also get them by shooting down pirates or bounty ships, or by attacking resource depots (though those obviously incur sentinel wrath).

Iridesite and Geodesite are worth quite a lot of money, but if you don't care about money, they go into 250 plat each.

Purely from my experience (no hard data), Platinum seems to be more common in Blue Star systems. But the quantities are still miserable, so unless you really enjoy asteroid mining or are still early game and broke, I would just buy it up whenever you see it for sale (check with landed pilots at space stations and if they have it, check the station trade terminals as well. In a platinum-rich system, both pilots and trade terminals will refresh fairly regularly so you can build up a pretty good supply fairly painlessly -- you never need that much).
