Stacking of Modules
When you purchase or obtain a higher level module do you NEED to remove the lesser module or do you need to keep it. can you Stack higher level modules over the lesser modules in the same slot

You'd want to replace them, because there's a max to the number of modules per tech catagory. I think it's three. So if you get three S rank scanner mods, when you add a fourth it won't function. I think it greys it out iirc.

Keep in mind though, there are some modules that don't count as direct upgrades for the tech- they're like, "add ons". Heavy mining laser doesn't seem to claim any mining upgrade slots, for example.

It is possible this changed with beyond, but I've yet to notice any such change.

One module per slot. Three of each purpose in general and tech for a total of six. Delete the lesser when upgrading first, or your could overload them and have the best ones in a less than optimal alignment (assuming you could line them up in the first place) when removing the lesser of them.

Edit: Haven't added any in Beyond, but previously too many would cause an overload and all would fail to work unless some are removed.

If you mean modules like the ones you buy on space stations? You can stack up to 3 of any of the same module (for example, 3 pulse engine upgrades). If you add a 4th, they all turn off and say you're overloaded, at which point you'll need to dismantle the unwanted ones.

@cbkohoh Beyond added the ability to move upgrades around, so you don't have to worry about optimizing placement on first try anymore. Thank C'Thulhu.

Didn't realise that, thanks for the tip.

Agree with what others were saying with 3xmodules per inv, would like to add that ' Heavy mining laser' is a BluePrint. BPs do not count towards your 3xmodules total as they are not modules. You can install all your tech BP's one time - then they no longer appear in your BP build-list until you dismantle the installed 1. Then they appear in build-list again. HTH

Very good, I always fail at distinguishing the two because they strike me as being used in such a similar manner. Some of them even have the same kind of stat bonus, like the waveform recycler gives a bonus to scan radius and recharge time... but so do the same kind of modules.

Thanks, I'll have to remember that about BP's.

Yes - at first they are difficult to spot the difference - but hover mouse (cursor) over and tool-tip text will say - 'This Upgrade Module' for modules, while blueprints just say 'This Upgrade' :)
